Rutherford screwed us by quitting. No chances an interim gm makes that call. - buckster2342
We need to hire the new GM to make the moves here. |

Rutherford couldn’t fix this mess lol - j.boyd919
Not the roster, but he could have fired sully. We r stuck. |

I completely disagree with that. I could see it having been the opposite... possible the org was pressuring him to fire Sully and he didn't want to?
We will find out if the new guy cans him in the short term. |

To me, it was the most obvious move of the last 1-2 years. |

Is Malkin injured? Or just playing bad? |

I still can’t believe they canned all the assistants and left Sully. If you’re going to clean out the house, clean it out properly. It was just weird. Now we have new assistants and the team still looks like poop. Hmmm ... who’s the common denominator here? |

Step 1 claim Alex Chiasson so we finally have a net front presence on the PP.
This team definitely needs some help. POJ is looking great |

Definitely no signs of injury that I can see. He let go 2 one timers tonight and 1 slap shot? Seems more like an excuse then what I’m seeing. |

Maybe GMJR had a deal done to move Malkin for a haul and Ownership nixed it refusing to believe he was done. So JR said F it |

Idk, but I do hope they trade Malkin for a haul. It would really help this team |

Another reason why I don’t think there is any chance of an injury is Malkin was manning the point on the PP lots tonight on almost every PP. Not only would that be on the coaches but if we have ZERO leadership for a player to not say anything then I’d be shocked. If he was injured the players would not be waiting for shots like we seen many times tonight. If he was on the half wall it makes a bit more sense because he can walk in and shoot at times but he was up top lots.
There has been many guys consistently still giving lots of effort so I don’t believe for 1 second Sullivan has lost the room. The comebacks and no quit 4 times this season point to that as well.
Just my 2 cents....

this went from a game i was floored by their effort top to bottom and now im just hoping they hold on for a point - stayinthefnnet
Good observation. Seemed like maybe they started to turn a corner last game. But no follow up tonight. |

And we kept the goalie coach. Because that has been going well the last few years and isn't a problem at all right now |

Malkin is what 34 or 35 now? I dont think a haul is what anyone would give up for him.
Maybe a 1st+prospect? 2nd+ mid D man?
He's basically a bad 3C at this point. |

Oh you definitely can’t say this team doesn’t have some heart and fight with how many come backs they’ve had. I just don’t think the talent is all there, especially with all the injuries on the backend. |

The team is built around Sid and Geno. If one of those guys is MIA, you probably can't fix it.
I actually like the supporting cast. With POJ breaking through, I like the D when healthy. |

The special teams are killing them right now. If they find a way to fix the PP, they’ll win a lot of games. They’ve been getting 5-6 chances/game. The D played relatively well today without Tanger. DeSmith looked good. So maybe some upside there. But PP/PK is their Achilles heel right now

While I agree. I still think they are severely missing a net front guy in the PP and that would completely change the look of the team as a whole.
Do they even have that many come back when’s if they’re clicking at even 25%? Hell their PK has been worse than even I thought they would be lol I thought they were going to be a middling PK and right now they’re 25th.
If the Pens special teams on both ends was clicking better this team would look really good.
I hate Sullys stubbornness when it comes to Guentzel and Sid. Just give Guentzel to Malkin and see if something happens. While I think Geno made a good play on the Zucker goal deep in the zone, I wonder how his line would do if it was Guentzel-Geno-Kapenan.
Let Zucker-Sid-Rust grind teams down. I dunno. Gotta try something at this point. And the fact that they’re still in games with 1 started from their D in the lineup says something to me.
I think the 4th line is pretty much useless.
McCann-Bleug-Tanev looks pretty good here and there. |

Yup. Both PP and PK are bottom 5 in the league. |

Pp not quite that low but getting there. It’s actually pretty sad there are 12 teams with a worse pp |
