The seeding format was also a joke. Let’s throw out 70 plus games and have a round robin for seeding. Then you have a team like Philly getting top seed and playing the trap against the 24th best team in the nhl lol - QuickSCF
I agree with you on the round robin. However, the Flyers are not a trapping team other than situational play just like every other team with some sort of neutral zone play. |

Didn't American players cross the boarder to play in the playoff bubbles? - MJL
It's going to be an awfully long season if each team crossing the border has to go into 14-day quarantine before each game. |

Double header would benefit teams that have two good goalies vs one great goalie. Also younger teams might have an advantage as presumably they would be in better shape to play two games in a day. Would give the coaches a nice challenge. Wouldn't be the end of the world if they did 5-7 days with double headers. Anything to not be playing for the cup in October. |

If I was going to make up a rumour I might suggest that when the NHL re-opens all games will be played in 4 bubble cities. Again, if there are no fans, then playing in bubble cities helps the NHL save on costs...ie if I am an owner, why am I incurring costs to keep my arena running when I earn $0 on tickets, parking, concessions. Why are we paying travel to play in front of no fans. So head to my bubble. Settle in. Play hockey. So now we have 4 owners maintaining facilities instead of 31. There I just made up a rumour. If crossing borders is an issue, then all 4 bubbles are in Canada. Cool. Two rumours. |

Baseball is a no-contact game with non-constant movement. Hockey is a game of constant movement and physical play.
Doubleheadrs will create such an injury plague around the NHL that the AHL will be empty. |

I don't know how they could do that. The cap is based on days of the season, not games. - MJL
It would not be hard to recalculate based on games played. |

If they start changing the amount of periods and length just don't have a season. |

A guy at the car wash just told me that the evening game would be a 20-minute game of 3-on-3. And teams can carry an extra 3 skaters. This could be really cool. Maybe teams specifically carry a couple of skilled AHL guys to log minutes in this 3-on-3 game. Or imagine if your team has a large lead in the morning game. Do you start to rest your skilled players in the 3rd period and save their energy for the evening 3-on-3? Could this be the year that Gretzky's records are broken as guys like McDavid or MacKinnon pile up points 3-on-3. More to come.. |

i think changing anything about the game (duration) is a terrible idea. also, same thing for double headers. more likely for players to get hurt. I can see having multiple back to back games if there's a bubble because travel isn't a consideration, neither is a commute home or any family obligations. I bet teams would be happy to have a scenario where they play 9-10 games in a 2 week stretch where they would maybe get a few days off between bubbles to visit with family. depth becomes a key factor. |

As someone who has played beer league tournaments, with 2 games in one day, there is literally NO WAY this can happen. Anybody who has played competitively can tell you this, knowing how hard they go at it. It takes several days to recover from that. The union would never go for it. |

NHLPA would never go for it. A lot of GMs would also reject the idea as injuries would likely go up. |

If you meant to say "back to back" games in the same city....like the AHL teams do, then you might have something. But that would be like Friday, Saturday and Sunday games I suspect. 2 games over 3 days. |

It's not a question of math. It's a question of a player is part of the team when practicing on non game days. Is part of a team when on the roster on off days with no practice or games. |

No.
Not for their families, either.
The Buffalo Blue Jays are a good example. |

Again... they would have to change the formula. Think of it as anyone not on the bench/ice for a game is on LTIR and not counted against the cap. They could compute the cap hit for each game by the cap hit of the 20 players on the bench/ice for 82 games divided by 82. This is an over simplification, but it could be done.

PA is not agreeing to two games a day
League is losing spectator revenue....2 games per day will reduce TV eyes as well....
I can see teams playing 4 games a week....tons of back to backs....but double headers....no way
