I think Buffalo would lose their minds if Lucas Raymond was still there at 8 |

So non draft related.
Ovi becomes a UFA next season. NYR gain a ton of cap space with Smith Stall Hank and Shatty coming off the books. Do they try to sign Ovi for 2-3 years and make the run then? Wash is trending down, NYR is trending up. May allow Ovi to get another cup or two. I figured Ovis deal would be over when the kids bridge deals are up. Would be a good leader for the room and turns is instantly into a cup favorite |

I really don't think that's in the cards
imagine the left wings:
Panarin
Ovechkin
Lafreniere
Kreider
and none of them feel comfortable playing right wing |

it almost angers me that he's still there at this point.......In real life, I think the chances of Holtz getting picked before Raymond are close to zero, but crazier things have happened. |

I was not headless. But, the Sabres are indeed delighted. We’ll get the 4/5 rated player on our boards, and a D-man was not even needed to push one down.
That all said, I think every team in the top 8 is assured of getting a very good player. The top 10/11 look real solid.
I looked at Holtz with a very similar lens as our NJ GM. I am pleased with his different conclusion. |

Going back to last thread and what makes Jimbo mad...
If Hank says he is willing to accept a trade and we can offload the Cap hit completely, what would it take to complete the trade? i.e. Hank + #22 to Detroit or is that too much?
I am thinking it is similar to the Marleau deal out of Toronto. |

Him and eichel could be something special. |

I don't think Raymond being there is so crazy. He didn't make a lot of progress over the year and underperformed in the SHL when compared to Holtz (arguably even Gunler). In my eyes, Holtz's elite shot make it plausible that he'd go ahead of Raymond. |

Hank's cap hit is 8.5, that's more than 2 mil more than Marleau. I think it would take more than the 22nd pick. if it's just the 22nd pick, I would expect the Rangers have to eat a bit of the contract (maybe like 2 mil) |

I would agree if we are comparing it solely to the Marleau trade but Hank would actually be useful enough for Detroit as a goalie that can split time with Bernier. Detroit could also flip him at the deadline if Hank is interested in a final cup run. |

The other thing to consider is Dubas. He paid way too high a price to bury Marleau. Other GMs aren't this stupid. |

the thing is, the Rangers can live with the Hank contract as is if they had to, they have enough cap space to survive 2020-21, just not improve
Toronto had no choice but to do what they did with Marleau

true, plus your GM is better than Dubas (who seems to get bent over on virtually every deal he's ever made, except for the Kapanen one)
I just think a team taking on that much cap would look at the Toronto deal, realize they're taking on more cap for a worse pick, and ask for something better. |

Must get Hank very drunk first!
- HenryHockey
Hank:
6 beers in - "tell Detroit to trade for me right (frank)ing now"
8 beers in - "a move to the Senators sounds like an amazing idea"
12 beers and a 26oz of tequila in - "and starting for your Buffalo Sabres.....MEEEEE" |

Because I decided to do two picks per day to give us something to discuss until the Cup Finals end and to allow the selectors time to put together their rationale for each pick and possible trade alternatives, if they desire. |

saw a rumor that team's may be waiting to see how Tampa Bay handles their cap situation and who they have to get rid of before the moves start flowing
it's crazy they could win the Cup and then be making moves like 12 hours later
