I thought our d struggled in our own end and our physical presence has diminished the past few games. We’re getting hemmed in our own end and can’t sustain pressure in theirs. I’d swap Boychuk for Mayfield and Ross for Brassard to add a little punch. I doubt mayfield comes out but he and a couple others haven’t been great lately.

Mayfield and Leddy haven’t been wonderful. Not sure if it’ll be mayfield but have a feeling trotz is going to do something. Islanders need to have a better first period next game and show a little urgency. To me it’s unacceptable for them to come out the way they did last night. They weren’t skating and were standing around watching the play rather then playing.

Toews and Pulock also had some bad turnovers last night, have to credit Phillys forecheck though too. But I agree, as a team they weren’t skating, not strong on pucks, lost battles and weren’t playing w urgency. Plus how many shooting opportunities to we constantly not take? Not a new issue but you’d think they’d throw more pucks to the net. Phillys been doing that with great success.

Some penalties are supposed to to be made regardless because it's the rule.. Like the dumb delay of game penalty when a D-man flips it over the glass, or a too many men on the ice, or goalie playing the puck in the trapazoid, etc. . There is no speculation or wiggle room for the refs to "let them play". That was a clear penalty and when it happened I was yelling at my TV... Delay of Game... delay of game... It 100% has to be called... period.

We seem to be constantly going backwards with the puck in the D-zone again.. it's driving me nuts. That was Capuano's big move... sit on the puck in the D-zone looking for a good pass. Every goal they scored could have been flipped out of the zone before they scored it.. even the last one. Brock had it on his stick.. messing around looking for an open pass and gave it away. ... maddening.

Ironically, Bailey had his best game as an Islander. I did not get angry at him once in the D-zone and he was Elite in the O-zone.. so there is that..

Early indications are Mat Barzal’s doing well; no issue with his eye.

Why wouldn't he have come back for OT? Waiting for a Plastic surgeon? Once I saw the cut was on the bridge of his nose and not in the eye I thought for sure he would be back out there after getting a stitch. ... glad he is ok.

Yeah Pulock hasn’t been especially good the last couple of games defensively. Indecisive imo. Pelech though he had an overall good game had a blunder that directly led to a goal. Absolutely have to give the flyers credit they capitalized on our mistakes that’s how you win in the playoffs.

Well none of us know whether he is ok or not really except for Pagnotta’s tweet which could mean nothing. When:where did you see the cut was on the bridge of his nose?

yep.. we certainly had our chances to win it.. between Brock's break away, Toews on the 2-on-1, couple of situations where we passed the puck when we had guys in front instead of throwing it at the net. JG's backhand that if he holds it one more foot he's got the whole net..etc.

When he was skating off the ice... it's close to his eye.. but not in the eye.

The call on Martin upset me b/c 1 shift before that you had one of our players pulled down with no call in the D-zone that lead to 3 more shots on net. then you have that absurd trip call... very frustrating. We were buzzing when that call was made and it flipped momentum for sure.

We have 2 more shots at this guys. We have the best coach in the league and the best coaching team with him. Trotz will have these guy playing the way they played the last 2 series in Game 6. .. get back to smart Islander hockey.

I wouldn't mind seeing MDC and/or Johnston get in the game tomorrow. We need these guys flying around every shift. If guys like Brassard, Eberle, Leo and Martin are not going to be flying every shift they need to know they will be scratched.

I love when the guy standing right there doesn't make the call but the guy in the neutral zone feels like he got a better look.

Not clearing pucks outside the zone when they’re within a couple feet of the blue line has absolutely been frustrating to watch. And led to goals.

https://twitter.com/TheRe.../1300969784327188481?s=20 The most annoying part of this play was the Ref letting the play keep going with Barzal on the ice with his helmet off, holding his eye. Bad enough u don't get a PP but to not stop the play until we had the puck is nuts.

As you know, when you’re constantly getting pressured and hit it causes you to make poor decisions at times. Which is what we were doing to them early in the series and seemed to back away from. Hopefully we get back to what’s got us here and show up tomorrow.

Also, not sure why they don’t do the shooting PP more often w Pulock unloading one timers. Makes them get out of position if they cheat to cover him or he unleashes a bomb for a potential rebound if it doesn’t go in.

Bad call but good play by the Flyer. He felt the stick and dove then got a PP in OT out of it.

They haven’t been getting shots to the net from the point on the pp they’ve been trying to work it down low. I believe it’s the flyers effectively pressuring the point on the PK and our coaching staff adjusting to it. Against the panthers that was definitively our game plan I assume AV watched the tape and was ready for it. Hart seems to be great in close but prone to lapses with shots outside the dots like Varlamov imo so it would be great to see some shots from the point with traffic in front especially on the pp.

The big thing I noticed on the Isles PP is they couldn't gain control in the offensive zone. They couldn't skate it in because they would get stood up at the blue line. When they dumped it in it seemed like the Islander player going to retrieve the puck was outnumbered 2-1 along the boards every time and the Flyers would clear.

To me that wasn’t only on the pp that was 5 on 5 especially in the first period. We just weren’t skating like we all know we can. They would dump it in and not get to the puck before a Flyer who would clear or just get outmuscled along the boards if they did get there in time. Forecheck was nonexistent last night. They sometimes lack that killer instinct when they have a team on the ropes. Seems to be a lot of hesitation and over thinking and a lot less doing/execution the last couple of games imo.
