Sometimes I feel so bad for McDavid being stuck in Edmonton, then I remember he signed that dumb contract, and realize he did it to himself. |

Puy McDavid on Colorado and see what he does in the playoffs. Your argument is wrong. - GPHawksfan
Who know, the results might surprise you. For instance, MacKinnon actually has better playoff point numbers than McDavid (overall and PPG), and did even before this season. But again, my argument is that MacKinnon is playing better hockey right now, not that he's forever the better player. Seriously, this is a year where MacKinnon is a finalist for the Lindsay, Hart, and Lady Byng trophies, and is the current front-runner for the Conn-Smythe. It just might be that this adds up to a better current-state performance than McDavid, who achieved none of that this year. |

MacKinnon is the more completely player. MacKinnon can play down low and inside the circles with guys draped on his back.
McDavid is a little soft around the paint and using his body and strength to protect the puck down low on cycles if isnt give the space to skate away
MacKinnon is a bull and his balance is crosby-esque to pull defenders all over the ice

No, and it’s not particularly close. And this ain’t a slight to mack. He’s so sick.
The debate is always the same.
Which ever player is on a heater or playing extremely well
Kucherov
Mackinnon
Sid
Matthews
Etc etc
But the only constant in that debate on the other side is 97. He’s the best player in the world. One of the greatest we’ve ever seen play the game.

Nobody can touch McDavid's individual abilities. I think MacKinnon is a better leader on the ice. He just seems to elevate everyone around him in a way that McDavid doesn't. |

How about winning more than 1 playoff game, against a team that should never have seen the post-season light of day? Forgive me for finding it slightly harder than most to make a strong case for the captain of a team that just face-planted worse than the Maple Leafs, compared to a guy who's actually playing at the top of his game and could very well win the Hart Trophy this year. - khawk
It's almost like the Edmonton Oilers are a tire fire and one line, even though electrifying and dominant when on the ice, couldn't play all 60 mins...
McJesus > Mackinnon. Imagine if both players were on the other's squad? |

OK.

Considering I've been making a case that McJesus is better than Mackinnon and that 1 player cannot completely change the fortunes of a playoff team, I was trying to be ironic.
The only forward who gets to be compared to Gretzky as the GOAT is Mario. |

How do you figure? What has he done specifically to be given the "better leader" designation? |

Imagine waiting for McJesus to actually win something meaningful before making such a grand declaration like calling him McJesus... he's an outstanding player, but he's not the only outstanding player in the league. |

Was tanner finally fired? - sodapop31
It appears he is still writing quality content as usual.
Oh and apparently he hasn't watched a Coyotes game in 6 years.
Jump in the comments to wish him farewell. He will be missed.

In my opinion yes but they are both so good. I just prefer the way Mackinnon plays but McDavid is amazing. Hard to choose. It's like picking Mario vs Gretzky - chelios_24

There’s McDavid and there’s everybody else. The Avs would trade Mac for McDavid in a heartbeat. |

EASILY!!!
His ability to put a team on his back they way he did against the Flames last year was all the proof I need.

You seem to have a real grudge against McJesus lol. Wasn't Nate part of the Avalanche team a few years back that had one of the worst seasons in history? They had like 48 points or something. I don't see Nate holding any Heart or Art Ross trophies lol. Stop acting like he's won anything. |

Jesus, the group-think is really hitting overdrive today. Honestly, so thinking McDavid isn't 24/7 the best player in the NHL at every given moment (even in a year where he may not have even been the best player on his team) means I have a "real grudge"? If you go back, I even said I would pick McDavid first if I was starting a team, but that MacKinnon is just on another level right now. By right now, I mean the 2019/20 season... not 2-3 years ago, when McDavid won those trophies. In 2019/20, MacKinnon is the one nominated for those same trophies... and is the Conn Smythe favorite... and is only the 2nd player in NHL history to start a playoff run with points in 13 straight games. For reference, those playoff achievements are things McDavid hasn't accomplished, or really even come close to. If/when he does it, rest assured that I'll be right there to give him full due credit.
So yes, I'm apparently capable of fully respecting McDavid's incredible skill level, and also believing that MacKinnon is playing even better hockey than that right now. |
