The car accident argument is not the same, approximately 1000 people die each year from car accidents in Illinois a little different then, less then 3 months we are over 1100 deaths in Illinois with Covid 19

I feel terrible for the people who are struggling financially. I understand we all aren't in the same position. I also believe Healthcare should be available to all not just the ones who can afford it. But i also realize when the state is modifying a warehouse and refrigerating it so they can house the bodies that won't fit in the morgue!

I am of a different ilk, you want to go out and go to sporting events or concerts, large gatherings, more power to you. But if you end up in ICU well that's on you, all the media can do is provide us with information anyone can take it or leave it.

I just feel for all those people over 20,000, so many more in the world, in the states dying alone and isolated. So sad, do you think any one of them thought they would catch this and die from it? Probably not

You're probably in luck, i imagine tickets will be pretty cheap this year.

I think there’s confusion here. I don’t think there should be any large gatherings for quite some time. So I’m not talking about going to concerts/sporting events with thousands of other people, at least not till December/January(when I believe they will most likely start opening up to the public again).

I’m talking about slowly and gradually reopening the economy over the next 1-3 months. Restaurants, bars, theaters, libraries, malls, courthouses, schools, churches, etc. Starting with gatherings of 10(phase 1), then 50(phase 2), and so on. All dictated by the data(you can’t move on to the next phase in your county until a certain decreased number of new cases is reached over a 14 day span). These are the guild lines. It will come quicker in some areas than in others. But it’s going to happen faster overall than some would like to believe.

It’s a shame that you can’t cite promising/“good news” data these days without people claiming it must be inaccurate/falsified.

At the same time those same people probably wouldn’t dare question whatever scary/“bad news” data they come across.

Hope you're right Jack. There's a lot of things i miss. Scheduled to see a couple concerts this summer, was planning to go to several Bears Hawks games. Miss dining out, or being out on the golf course. But like everything this shall pass. I just want to be able to enjoy the time when it does. I'm probably older than you so there's that as well.

It will all be over sooner than you might think. Just hang in there. One day soon you’ll be able to enjoy all those same things again. We all just need to remain smart and follow the guild lines these next few months.

Actually the web site supports what I'm saying not 1 state is reporting 1 death per 10000 people who contracted it. I wish you were right

Yep, it's just raw data. I get we can debate the meaning of it. Like a GAA or SV%, it is what it is. Whether it's good or bad is the debate.

Dots, 100 of 1,000,000 (.0001) equals 1 out of 10,000 (.0001).

The shutdown's main purpose was to avoid the health care system being overwhelmed. The models that drove those decisions turn out to have dramatically overestimated the impact on hospitals, even when accounting for social distancing.
- mohel

Yeah, no overloads in New York eh? Or New Orleans or South Florida, business as usual, eh?

Models of the deaths that will continue to happen until the tests (now two new cheaper test methods are coming available) are administered to everyone.

German modeling and even the way Japan test every school age kid, and if two at the same school come up positive they close THAT school.

The influence on 1912 ran through past 1919...

I just think you and I have an invisible enemy (besides plain stupidity) and until we have a concise battle plan by scientific leaders, you don't want to compromise protection from large spreading. or you open some area in Kansas, they go back to normal and BAM they are the new center of illness.

I am in the age group who gets it, but never smoked, and am healthy, and I would love to feel I want to throw the rest of my pepper under the bus, for the stake of my investments, my impatience with wanting it to be over so things can BE NORMAL, but I can't do that.

The 44th President had the right idea to prepare and invest in our safety, our children our workers, not make this world wide pandemic into something it isn't and IT ISN'T something we should be trifling about....

Are you referring to the worldometer site referenced earlier?

The way I read it shows about 40 states with less than 100 deaths per 1M in population. That's less than 1 death per 10, 000 population, not 1 death per 10,000 who contracted it.

Based on that Stanford study that came out within the past couple of days, probably a lot more than suspected, making the mortality rate for those who have contracted it less than the 4% or so figure.

The 44th President of the United States was.O'Bama

The playing of games will.be very revealing about the ultimate concern of the powers that be.

I know.of a President whom has done some good things but has.failed on a much larger level than any good he has done by his measures regarding the Corona

The Chinese political leaders are to blame first and foremost. We need leaders who.abide in scientific reasoning and not economics as sole guidance. I know Trump.has balls to call out fake news. But fake news has always been present. When you have rich people trying to control the world....if you support Trump.or not, you need to make an effort to as if you were to construct a research paper and propose
a thesis.anout all that is going on. Last election some people let what the stock.market does for their wealth override any other concerns. It will be interesting how many of them vote the same way for next President.

Well.ibtw I am fairly certain Trump doesn't know much about NHL.hockey and its players

It's unfortunate TV cameras aren't allowed into some of the hospitals in NY, NO, Detroit etc. so the 11:00 news watchers can see people unable to breathe dying in their own secretions with no family members around them.

Hail to the bravery of those nurses and doctors who are bringing it every day.

Fortunately, everyone of them has had access to a ventilator.

While we're at it, let's get the cameras in hospice facilities to see the last days of people dying of cancer. Maybe the ER when a car crash victim comes in mangled.

A friend of my family found out she has inoperable pancreatic cancer recently. The next day she left the hospital to go to a rehab facility. It happened to be the day mitigation started. She spent the first three days after her diagnosis completely alone; nobody was allowed to visit, not even her husband. I'm sure the cruelty of that was worth it somehow.

Quite possibly when it’s all said and done there will be a much closer unity between the various countries and cultures on the planet, and a much greater appreciation for the healthcare workers.

Is China a member?.Trump denounced them. Not much hockey over there. Adds to the notion what a dreadful place. Communist rule. I bet the people do not like the government. Remember Tianeman Square. The Billy Joel song We Didn't Start The Fire?

The commemorating the fall of communiism took hold 31 years ago. It could be an English class homework assignment to identify and correlate the events or social agenda of each historical reference in the song. NOW this Corona Virus 19 would fit as an end point for historical text.

From a World War to a Cold War 117 different mention in that song Now add one if there could be a remake of the song. I googled a bit and found 3.5 million hits on a pro demoicracy song from 2009 by young people in throngs packed in streets and everywhere

. Chinna has lied about the intent and.serioisness which has led to a pandemic. The numbers are worse in China than they report. It is really small potatoes loosing hickey for a while compared to the lives lost and the interuption of lives, the economic pitfalls worldwide .

You started another fire, China. The world will never be the same. Hockey will never be the same too. All sports players should be tested.

Someone coughs at a game later this year or five years from now, do you move from your seat. If you have a cough or cold a few days later then you might have some anxiety.

Because even if an innoculation basicly wipes out this virus, what is next coming out of China or anywhere. Biblicly speaking each four year increments or just know that in the future more of these viruses is a real threat

Have Black Keys tickets at DTE in July. Doubt it's happening, but we'll see.

Also, still no to the goalie at 9 or better. Hope Duff's right and he doesn't last til the Hawks pick.
