I like what the Leafs did. Everyone is criticizing them, ignoring the fact they have missed between 2 and 5 players from every game this year.
They know if they get healthy they have one of, if not the very best rosters in the league. It took guts to stand pat in this market, but time is going to prove Dubas as the NHL's best GM.
Plus, other than Tampa, Boston, Carolina and maybe Edmonton, every other team over paid for non-impact players.
Also, Tyson Barrie is better than every defenseman that was traded at the deadline or before it, so Leafs got the best rental on the market anyways. - James_Tanner

And I know it's a "Feel Good" story, but jesus, Leafs have been destroyed over this story. If it happened in Arizona it wouldn't even have been noticed.
Leafs paid a massive price for this. - RogerRoeper
Zamboni drive won against a' big cup contenter' deal with it, it was a big deal
Was the equivalent here : Guy selling peanuts in the stand come to close a game in MLB? |

Still have the Canucks missing the playoffs I see. At least you have them getting 7 wins in their last 21 games instead of 5 yesterday. |

So the Leafs are a loser because they needed to trade for a defenceman but they also didn’t trade another defenceman?
After Muzzin’s injury last night I am thankful they kept Barrie. |

It is a big deal and it has certaibly been made that way. It can't possibly get anymore coverage.
And I don't think MLB would allow anything like this. NHL in a lot of ways looks bad here. burke was right.
And Leafs are viewed as no one as a contender. |

Once in his career in a contract year with an unsustainable shooting %. Big contract and big price to pay in a trade. |

Overpaying supporting guys with deals you can't later move is dumb, dumb, dumb.

1. They're not a cup contender.
2. Only if the peanut guy played in the minors for years and worked with the MLB team in question ala pitching/batting practice. Then you'd wonder why he was selling peanuts.
3. Blown way out of proportion by media.

"The way the team played Saturday Night was inexcusable and yet no one paid the price"
Are you sure about that? They've been humiliated as a team worse than any team ever. The coverage of that incident was unperescedented.
To spin this as not a big deal and no one paid the price is pretty laughable. - RogerRoeper
Other teams have lost to EBUGs...this is such a bloated storyline. Take a deep breath - this was not the most embarrassing event in NHL history by a long shot. |
