Only way Gaudreau would be traded would be if it makes Calgary a better team at present and in the future, both on-ice and cap-wise.
So he's untouchable unless Chiarelli is involved. |

Thomas Townsend: Johnny Gaudreau to Columbus...not likely - Thomas Townsend
Absolutely right about Gaudreau trade not a fit with the Jackets. If Gaudreau is traded, Treliving likes to do his big trades at the draft. That would be the only way I see Flames move him & it would have to be a very juicy deal for us. But I think Treliving would have to seriously listen.
Now if Jackets need a top 2 centre, perhaps a deal can be made. Flames management love Backlund, he's an analytics darling and can shut down top opposition lines with the best of them. His hands are like cement though, he gets chances & cant seem to bury them. With Lindholm at centre with Tkachuk & Monahan with Gaudreau, we have 2/3rds of two top lines. They have been playing Backlund on RW, he's done ok but we need a real RHS RW for both lines. Dube & Mangi can fight for 1 spot but that pushes Backlund down to 3rd line, fewer minutes. How about a Backlund & maybe we can add a 3rd round (seeing we probably have an extra from Oilers) & maybe one of our decent prospects from Stockton? Or even Gilles(goalie) in Stockton whose having a much better year? I know Turris could probably be had for cheaper but Backlund I think is better & cheaper for same remaining term after this year (4 years) for Anderson.
Just a thought. |

Um-m . . . No. Don't need a 30 y.o. center with stone hands and a $5.3MM annual hit for the next 4 years. And we already have 2 highly rated goalies in the pipeline, so thank you - no. I sincerely hope we don't take on Turris . . . I think Jarmo is smarter than biting on that one. |

Gaudreau isn't getting traded in season unless the Flames lose their next ten. If the Flames don't do well in the playoffs this year and Gaudreau doesn't give them some kind of indication that he wants to resign, he could probably be had in the offseason.
For Columbus to get him, it's going to take Foudy, Texier, or Bemström, plus a first, plus something else. None of this Anderson nonsense. |

I could see Anderson being of interest to the Flames and other teams but his injury woes this year have likely had a big impact on his trade value.
Has he even returned to the line-up after his fight with Borowiecki?
Interesting to note too that in 26 GP Torts was only giving him 3rd line minutes with 8 other forwards getting more TOI/game. |

You mean a guy with 1 goal and 4 points in 26 games isn't appealing for a guy who, even in a down year, is on pace for 20+ goals and 60+ points? |
