We could get really good value for Palms, Vats, Coleman and a few others but you got to be honest with the fans in doing something like that and say its going to be some time before money is spent on guys not already here.

Obviously we would be a mess if most those guys where moved but the pieces those guys should yeild would really help a rebuild.

yea you can do that, and then not have anyone on the team besides Nico and Hughes. At some point you have to have NHL players on the team.. and none of those guys are over 28.

I just do not know if I trust management - are they into building NJ and investing?

He hasnt helped them fair to much better in the standings and the return fits much better with Nico and Jack plus you still have veterans left.

Why keep a guy who is worth something now but wont be in 4 years ? Im not disputing how good he is if he had 2 years left I would love to have him but he is a ufa and can fetch a better return then almost all the players we have traded during our rebuild.

You get rid of the guys who dont matter like Haydend and Rooney and keep the Vats and co and you end up like montreal and minny.

I dont know why you guys are so pleased with our prospect pool its just not there yet imo.

he'll be fine in 4 years. Will he REALLY get us a good return? a 20-30th overall pick? Will that pick even help us.. ever? can't guarantee that. But we can be fairly certain Vatanen can help our team in the next 5 years. This team of youngsters will need a veteran that knows how to NHL.. especially since the rest of the defense will be young inexperienced guys.. and a shell of Subban.

SO I was at this game.. a few things to note.
I sat top row in the corner in the bottom bowl. GF picked the seats so it was really hard to see the other end of the ice, but great perspective when the play was on our end.

1. Louis, imo, didn't have as great a game as some think. Yes, only 1 goal, but Tampa fired several shots that were just inches wide. He over-committed many times, leaving the opposite side of the net wide open on many occasions.

I literally just learned if we brought 4 canned food items we would've got 2 free ticket vouchers. ....

2. Gusev really does have it, but as usual we got too fancy several times. The difference between us and Tampa was they knew when to rip it on net and when to pass it. We dilly dally around sometimes when we should just be firing and going for the rebound.

3! .... Erika....in person.. the waist and up shots we get on TV don't do the woman justice. Bless her fiance. She really is something. I decided to stay after the game outside with other crazy people to get signatures. All these years and I've never done that before.. but I'll be doing it again. Erika walked to the parking garage.. passing us by on the opposing sidewalk. I tried not to stare. It's rude to stare. I didn't stare. But I have eyes and they did their job.

4. So then PK stopped his car and signed stuff. Lindsey freaking Vonn in the passenger seat. I still can't believe it. She is a sight, and just being so close to an incredible athlete .. and yea Subban too I guess. Some drunk lady legit tried to get in his car through the window and sane fans had to hold her back. idiot. Then Nico stopped his car AND GOT OUT. I was feet away from Nico, PK, and Lindsey Vonn. And yes, got Nico and PK's autographs on my jersey. Never met any form of a celebrity before and now I know how crazy I react. I felt like teenage girl meeting the Jonas brothers or something. absurd feeling.. but hell, it was cool lol.
Cangi came over for a bit too and appeased some fans that wanted selfies with him. Poor guy just wanted to go home.

5. I mean heck, the guys played a good game. Hard to see the other end of the ice, but from my limited vantage point they played hard and I was impressed. But like I said.. Tampa could've easily with this game 4-2. I credit them just misfiring more than Domingue being brilliant.

I wana go back. And I wana be a little girl waiting for the players. And I want to see Erika walk by again so I can turn into a pathetic puddle of tears, crying out for her love. lol. dear lord. goodnight.

Subban will be a shell but Vats who was never at Subbans level and it already showing signs of slowing down. We are also talking about Sami Vatanen here and you make it sound like I am saying we should be cutting ties with Neidermayer who would absolutely be all those things.

I think this was the right move now because if the rumors are correct and Shero and ownership didn't see eye-to-eye on the future of the team then Shero needed to go. Shero wanted to go a semi-rebuild again with trading veteran players (like Vatanen and Palmieri) and getting prospects/picks while I heard ownership would of preferred going with keeping them and try to make "hockey" trades instead. Ownership wasn't pleased with the Hall return, they thought Shero could of gotten the Devils some help now instead of all so called "futures" in that trade. These owners will spend money (they did bring in Subban, Simmons, Gusev = $18.5mil). Problem with the Devils is getting big-time free-agents to sign here. Do you think Panarin would of signed here even if we offered 12-13 mil a year? I'm willing to give Fitz/Marty a shot to see what they do at the deadline. This should show us what ownership really feels the direction the Devils should go .......and so far Nas has been a pleasant surprise.

After seeing the press conference I would be shocked if we still had two first round picks come the draft.

Everything was winning, not winning enough ect ect but when this ownership came on they where committed to building this the right way and not taking shortcuts and now all that is out the window ?

How long term where they talking when Ray took over 2 years !? Lol

If we are going to be trading picks away I would hang on to the Yotes pick till the draft and see where washington is at and if they would be willing to send a rival Tom Wilson !

They gotta think about Holtby and Ovie in the near future maybe even backstrom so they might enjoy the pick and cap relief.
