And he gets it done in a lot of different ways, which is the amazing part. Insane stick skills all around and great vision when passing. The one knock I have on him is that he isn't a great skater, which is probably why he looked awful to start the year, but he is good positionally to make up for it.

Not saying you meant getting rid of Vats means getting closer to getting a McDavid. What I’m saying is the years we won the lotto we got what was available and that’s the hand you play, constantly rebuilding and adding what a late 1st round pick for our defender isn’t going to get us closer to winning at this point.
Trade off the scraps that have no future with us for whatever we can get and retain the useful players. I think this team has shown in its last 10 games that they are better than the start to the season showed. The right coach and a key free agent or two and this team looks much better. I don’t think you have to tear it down.

I like Vats I just think he is 29 now and a ufa if he was 27 I would be on board not selling him off but he is a hair to old and a ufa and thats enough for me to pull the trigger. Its not a must but I think it wouod help more but really its 50 50 either way.

I have such mixed feelings about how well they are playing. On one hand its amazing to finally see them be competitive and see MUCH better hockey but at the same time it makes no sense to end in the middle of the pack and draft in the middle. I'd like to get a top 5 pick and pick this play up again next year.
