I’m not sure that’s exactly what I said. I don’t prefer him in the top six because of his mediocre abilities on zone-entries. But also now with that McCann line firing on all cylinders I’d hate to mess with that.

Plus it’s probably a good idea to ease him back in the lineup.

- Rinosaur

I think you also said you didn’t want to break up that third line, which is fair. I’m far from the biggest 72 fan but he was playing some dogged, determined hockey before he went down. I don’t want him with Geno at all but aside from that I’m fine with him anywhere. I’d like to see that PP1 stay together with Kola up top - it was fun to watch

Imagine having access to a tv and thinking data analysis was universal/accurate factual information and players would net out equivalent performance with different linemates and systems in a bubble without watching players play.

Literally no one embedded in the stats community believes this. “Anti-stats” people make up some retarded fallacies.

Bylsma was basically a perfect storm. He had a few tricks that ended up being just what we needed at that time. A year later they were figured out and he had nothing else to offer.
- Tojo.

Yeah it all came together nicely for us especially with Gonchar getting healthy and some fresh faces

Looking past 2009 though I blame Halak for the 2010 collapse and then injuries struck. We were so hurt in 2011 and that’s when the playoffs went off track for us imo. If we figured Halak out and were healthy in 2011 who knows what may have happened

In the regular season those teams were awesome. We were fast, physical, special teams were always good. We definitely got stale come playoff time his last few seasons. Honestly, I wanted AV. I like his transition system which seems to be working for Philly

This guy been riding Lidstrom's coattails for awhile now.

Coach Q way better coach. Buried him this season with the performance of Flo rida. Also Trotz, way better. There's like 10 coaches in the league right now who I'd say are way better. He got into the right situation with Detroit. Been riding it ever since.

You’re probably right about what will happen with Horn vs. Simon, but I can promise you it won’t last.

There’s a reason why Hornqvist never sticks on Sid or Geno’s line. I know I beat this dead horse to hell, but it’s his transition game.

Once in the zone he’s awesome. He cycles well, battles for pucks and creates that mayhem in front of goalies, but he stifles zone entries and the transition game in general. He’s a dump-n-chase player and that just isn’t what this team is.

- Rinosaur

I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing Hornqvist v Simon so I'm going to back up.

Right now, I like the alignment of Simon on the grind line and Hornqvist on the spare parts 3rd line.

If ever at full health, I'm not sure where I would put Hornqvist. Agree on not putting him with Sid. I actually like him with Malkin, but at least for now I don't want to move Rust off the RW there. I liked him with Bjugstad, but not really with McCann.

Simon I've long said I think is just as good in a defensive bottom six role so I could see him on that grind line in Tanev's spot where the lack of finish wouldn't be as important. Might also be a place to park Bjugstad.

If Sid liked Horn up with him he’d be up there and the same could be said for Geno.

My guess though is what Tojo said will come to fruition to start. I’d had for Tanev to go back to the fourth with how well he’s doing on that line.

Long-term lines, I'm mostly set on pairs, though I want to see more of Malkin and Rust once Rust cools down from his 50+ goal pace. Then I'm open to experimental moving around Hornqvist, Tanev, Galchenyuk, Simon, Bjugstad, and anyone else aquired to find the right fit.

Right now, I'd run exactly what Sullivan had in practice yesterday.

I believe Rino said he’d slot Hornqvist onto the 4th line as to not upset our chemistry. What does everyone else think?

What about the absence of Schultz? We have a few days off so we feel confident enough to play 24 minutes with Dumo/Marino? Does Ruhwedel come up to play with Petts to keep the JJ-Kola third pair together? What’re you guys thinking?

Ok now I got it, we just crossed up a bit. I wasn't touching the top 2 lines right now and had Hornqvist and Simon both in the bottom 6.

Long-term, not sure yet where I want to fit everyone and if they need to add a piece. Rust an the McCann line are too hot to touch right now, but when they cool off some I might want to tinker.

Sullivan said "longer term", the last I heard.

Unfortunately, I think this torpedoes his chances of being traded. Same for Schultz. Thankfully for Schultz, though, he is on an expiring contract. That $9.6M between them could be put to good use.

Galchenyuk-Blandisi-Hornqvist, is that the plan then? I didn’t think much of Blandisi last game. Not great with the puck and had a couple turnovers, although generally he’s been fine. I would sit Lafferty for 72 tonight, no doubt

Schultz our longer term with lbi and Bjugstad our roughly 8 weeks after core muscle surgery. Lotta these “core muscles” need surgery this year 🤔

I would of liked to see Jarry in net. Not due to MM hate but I think it will benefit both goalies. Mm is playing too much, Jarry needs the exp, and would be nice to see how the team plays in front of Jarry against the same team that just came back and beat them. See how much confidence the team shows in him.
