Following the tournament from Italy.. seems like Dach was all over the scoresheet! What’d he have a goal and 3 assists?

How was his two-way play Wiz?

Here’s to hoping the Hawks/Wings rivalry is reignited by the new kids.

- Q-stache

It won’t - only two games per year, no playoff face-offs until a Final - they won’t see each other enough to develop a good mutual hatred.

Rivalries really developed in the O-6 era - 14 games against each rival every year so they’d play each team about every other week - then the tournament. Fans could get to really know opposing players and take part in the hatred.

Hard to get good rivalries going today even inside their own division - too many teams, months go by without seeing some teams, fans barely know the names of the opposition....

I really think he is so fluid, and I for one , never thought there was any issue with his feet. He always looked really balances and effortless in changing weight, adjusting to the play, and had a repertoire of foot leg and body "English" that let him disrupt things, strip pucks and also the other way, maintain sessions.
I am sure if were to you go loo at any of the endless pre-draft "highlights, you can pull some of that out of the tapes.

Lots of examples of his abilities, and he is only gonna get better were displayed in game one. As I mentioned earlier here, he basically is high end hockey IQ in his end and when his team is in puck pursuit on the wall with pressure, he patrols the area near the paint and the circles and caught every guy attempting to fill or set up. So fluid on his skates doing so.

And if you want to know what was Rea;ly happening when the Detroit wining homers were heaping praises on their first rounder "Mo" ritz Seider, and how he was going after Dach...there was case for the naive Seider to never get the various whips that Dach used to maintain his check on "mo." I am not trying to take away from a terrific prospect b/c he came to play, but I don't think he realized this was a heavier competition ramp up, as the NHl will be.

Dach easily slides into the defense back skate who a defender is working in mid zone.

He is a awfully good smart passer, and has reach, and use of it more than anyone else taken at his length.

His shot will improve, but honest he was never a junior player who was seeing up to tee it; he is the guy who gets to that guy and is clogging the front and clearly getting to the loose ones there more than anyone.

and the beauty is he has little to learning's or improve to start his career.

38 Brandon Hagel 77 Kirby Dach 42 Riley McKay
53 Michel Teply 71 Philipp Kurashev 76 Soderlund
59 Mikael Hakkarainen 58 MacKenzie Entwistle. 45 Dylan McLaughlin
Checkers
59 Liam Coughlin 52 Reese Johnson 55 Cole Purboo

PP Hagel Entwistle (F-o) Dach and Dach moved to the left side board set up area
With 27 Boqvist and 74 beading on the r & L points, with Boqvist becoming the attacking rover and Hagel filling at the point when Dach was down inside.

PK to me was really fun to watch b/c the used everyone from 27, to 43 Krys to 74 Beaudin to 62 Moberg and probably Gilbert and Ramsey but don’t recall them out there.

Beaudin, despite the announcers descriptions, was excellent in his stick work. Krys has a good stick but I am always weary on his transition carries because he gets a few taken away. Boqvist is so confident he rarely loses his cool even if while he is roving loses the puck, he just tries to get where he can help get it back.

39 LD Gilbert 27 RD Boqvist
74 LD Beaudin 43 LhRd Krys
85 LD Jack Ramsey 62 RD Cole Moberg

I scouted Moberg and always liked him, he continues to display his booming shard point shot and continues to show he has tools and head (and size) to work towards the nHL as a realistic goal.

I’ve gone back-and-forth on whether Dach should play in the show this year or go back to the minors. However, at this point if he can show a reasonable aptitude at camp - then keep him up and let him go through some growing pains now rather than later. With Toews, Strome and other options at center, it’s not like he’ll be thrown into the deep end and expected to start swimming right away.

Kid could be something special - but then again he was exactly who I wanted the Hawks to take at #3 - so that pretty much guarantees he’ll be a dud.

Will be interesting to see whether he plays C or W if he stays in Chicago to start the year

It's either Juniors or Hawks for the Kid. So the question is, imo, whether Juniors will help him develop further.

All of his skills (passing, defensively responsible, net-front presence, etc.) really lend themselves to center play. His face off abilities probably will be sub 50% - but that just means he’ll be like every other Hawks center not named Toews.

I don’t think having him play in Saskatoon will provide as much for him as the show can now. The AHL would be ideal - with the ability to call him up later in the season - but that’s not an option.

There's a nice opening for him at 3C. I'd put him there unless the "mental skills " peeps say he's not emotionally wired yet to handle some failure.

Yep, and the right selection of wingers on his line could also be very beneficial to maximizing his play. Shaw and Saad are often suggested as possibilities.

Where can we watch the game today against the Leafs with Hawks announcers? Detroit announcers were not good last nite!

He will probably get more out of practicing with the big club and sitting out games than playing pee wee hockey another year.

If he’s up I’m pretty sure he’s not sitting out many if any games.

Not that I think it will happen but if he's really not ready, I wouldn't want to see him get abused. He's just too far above the other league.

It is a big jump, especially with the grind of the length of the season. For him, it's been a heavy hockey offseason, too. I could see anyone wearing down. So, I can see him getting some maintenance time along the way.

Or... you do the opposite. You go all Dusty Baker on his ass and double-shift him for every game of the season. Just burn him down to the nub.

That’s how the Hard-Bake rolls...
