Hammer, Bickell, Brouwer, Crawford, Danault
I'm sure there are more, but that's not a ton over a pretty long time. - vabeachbear
Hammer - 2009
Bickel 2010 (plus a demotion in 2017)
Brouwer - 2009
Crawford - 2010
Danault - 2015
Add in Shaw and Saad for short stints in 2013....and Seabrook and Keith at Norfolk in 2006....
No, not a good record recently. |

didnt we trade for Leddy - wouldnt really consider him on this list, but yes, your list does support that more than a few have made decent NHL careers from the Rock

A lot of ancient history and / or marginal Show-stoppers there - including Gus, whom apparently they couldn’t develop as a defensive blue liner. |

The Hawks did when he was still in college, played for the Rock. in 10/11, and 12/13 (during the lock-out)

Have to consider that from 2009-2018 the Hawks never drafted higher than 18th in the first round, and 2 years had no #1 pick. One of those #1 picks was Kevin Hayes. |

Top picks don’t need much development in the minors (although most could benefit from more than they get).
Mid-first-rounders and lower do.
Rockford should have provided more development results than they have in the last several years.

This was primarily the Ted Dent era as coach of the Hogs, that was a mistake that was not corrected soon enough |

Well one good thing from last night’s Bears game. Blackhawks Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat at the game learning what it feels like as a fan when your team sucks! They’re like we gotta be better than this, this season boys!

Watch your dates - all of those going back to 2010 or earlier.
Pirri, Skille - you’re using them as examples of Rockford developmental success? |

Let's get serious with this list - Pierre Pilote played 5 seasons with the Buffalo Bisons and Bill White played 8 seasons in the AHL before making it to the NHL.
That was real 'grooming" in those days. |

Tyler, another great blog, informative, factual and undoubtedly it will generate lots of dialogue. I thought for sure during the summer you would either, post infrequently or your blogs would be mudane and boring. I was wrong! You have managed to find topics to generate discussion without resorting to the nonsense we have seen here in the past with bogus made up rumours and fake sources and inside knowledge. - paulr
Thanks Paul. Appreciate the kind words.
Always trying to keep it interesting!
Excited hockey is almost back. It does make for easier writing. Ha.

Best thing about the Beats game was seeing hockey commercials and the announcement that we were only 4 weeks away from some real games |

There were also only 6 and 12 teams in the league, one goalie until mid-60's on the roster, and in the 70's roster size on 17 plus 2 goalies. Also there was really no entry draft until 1967, as the original 6 "sponsored" junior teams, which meant they owned the rights to those kids who played for those teams. No free agency either. Only choice you had was to play for the WHA when they were around.

What's with the new "Nice Guy" schtick, sizzle chest? |
|
|
|
A guy I'm going to be watching is Dennis Gilbert. I had high hopes for him when he was at Notre Dame, especially after his sophomore year when he showed both good offense and a solid physical game on defense. His junior year wasn't as good offensively and then last year at Rockford he seemed a little slow footed so I question whether or not he is NHL material. Hopefully he has worked on his skating and quickness because it would be nice to have his size and physical game on the Hawks at some point. |

Am I seeing this right? Kane in the chest and shoulders looks a lot more developed than Toews. |

That's because NBC was broadcasting. They don't know the NHL!
