Uhhh for the most part I agree with Tojo and Feds. Malkin misses time almost every year. When he’s out I don’t want to run Sid, Blueger, Sheahan, Adams as our centers. I like Blueger but I don’t see a problem at all with running Sid, Geno, Bjugstad, Blueger to start the season

I also don’t think there’s a big market for Bjugstad as a center and that right now some teams would put some value that Rust could find some more consistency with a more consistent role on their teams. I’ll discuss my lol at WAR in a separate post

Congratulations!

On a side note, I appreciate your knowledge and insight (coming from a rando with little to none of both).

I'm more confident in Bjug at least treading water than anyone else. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's done it before.
- Hockey66

He did it for a bit when Malkin was out. His versatility certainly adds value. My biggest complaint about WAR is it doesn’t take into consideration QoT/chemistry which we know is a big factor. Chucky’s WAR is obviously going to be lower because he played with Nick Cousins for most of last year

I think we were lucky to get Bjugstad and McCann from the Brassard trade. Brass and Cullen were blocking Blueger so at the time of the trade Blueger was still just a prospect. As I said earlier, I think Rust has more valuable in this market than Bjugstad

There’s a good group of people here who share lots of penguins/league related thoughts and back it up with sourced information. Some guys are better at statfinding than others. Some will use only certain stats to support their opinions. Some will say some pretty messed up stuff like they wish certain players would die...

Whether you agree with other people’s opinions or not you’re likely to find views and opinions here that can broaden your own perspective, at the end of the day isn’t that why most of us are here for anyways?

Also, don’t get attached to Tojo because one day you’ll like what he’s laying down and then BAM he’s gone for 6 months

Not using as a bible. Don’t be stupid.

I’m not going back and reading everything but as I recall people were basically asking why you felt Bjugstad was so obviously replaceable as 3C and the only things I think you eluded to was WAR and cap hit. So me saying you’re using WAR as gospel on this one isn’t wrong, is it?

I’d like to see a larger sample size.

I’d like to see a larger sample size of Pettersson, who apparently is better than the guy in Vancouver of the same surname if you listen to certain posters here.

Pettersson being an RFA can’t go anywhere, especially because he was qualified, but you have to love that he (and his agent) publicly stated they are not worried and get it.

What I can say though is that he’s buddies with Montembeault who’s another Canadian citizen playing in the US and that’s my bread and butter so I’m hopeful to get the opportunity to help him as well

I cited primary assists. I cited the fact FLA rarely used him as a C. Don't make the claim all I was using was WAR which is extremely useful anyways.

Any of yinz go see Tarantino’s new flick tonight? If you’re a fan of his, it’s (frank)ing great. I was kind of worried he lost his touch after the Hateful Eight but this is classic Tarantino.

You’re right, you did. Someone also refuted your original primary assists claim and I think you adjusted it to be at 5v5. Still, did you think he looked terrible at 3C? Would 36 points be terrible? I would think with better linemates (which he should have this year) he will be in the 35-40 point pace range which I would be good with. It’s late so I’m not going to check how other 3Cs are producing but I don’t think he would be super easy to replace. I don’t think we should gamble on Blueger in a win-now season and then overpay for a 3C mid-season or near the deadline when it might cost us a 1st rounder and possibly more

But you’re right, you cited a couple other stats

He’s my favorite director. Hateful Eight also made me think he’s losing his touch. I’m excited to go see this.

My buddy who’s a big cinephile and Tarantino fan saw it. He says that it won’t ever touch the likes of Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, or Basterds, but that given the structure of the movie it should really appreciate on rewatch and that it’s probably already better than Hateful 8 and definitely better than Deathproof on first watch.

Given how he described it, I’ll probably like it more than Jackie Brown and maybe Kill Bill but my expectation is sub-Django. I’m excited to see it!

Looking forward to seeing it.

And regardless how good it can be...not much could ever touch Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. Classics.

Oh its for sure better than Hateful, I thought Hateful 8 and Deathproof was his worst movies by far. I also really enjoyed both Jackie Brown and Kill Bill so.. I’ll have to think long and hard to see if it’s on their levels.

I think what we saw from Bjugstad last year at 3C was encouraging. Mash that up with how hornqvist and Simon played in the world tournament... they might be able to finish some plays. Let’s let that play out a bit. I wish we could keep rust And just send JJ away but I doubt it. Blueger as 4C is great because we don’t know what he will look like as a every day NHLer just yet. Put Tanev and ZAR on the 4th with him and that looks like a pretty good 4th line.

Btw in the east here are the two tank teams against each other:

Martin-Dubinsky-McGinn
Staal-Gudbranson
Schneider

Vs

Glendening-Sobotka-Backes
Alzner-Ceci
Anderson

I did say when the Metro tank team was posted that it really wasn’t that bad. Personally, I think taking Alzner is somewhat cheating since he only played 9 NHL games last year but if these two teams play 20 1-minute shifts against each other I think team Metro wins by a hefty margin. Team Atlantic is gross

Hateful Eight has gotten better to me after watching it a few times, but I was still fairly disappointed in it. I didn't like Jackie Brown when I first saw it and now it's one of my favorites.

True Romance is still my favorite movie of all time. He didn't direct it, but he wrote it and I think that was the first major film he wrote.

True Romance is definitely one of my favorite movies. Goodfellas is probably my favorite of all time and Pulp Fiction is a close second.
