Because he is a bona fide NHL player who can play the center position.
- Hockey66

How come Florida rarely used him at center the past 3 seasons then? Do you trust their coaches knew what they were doing too?

Amount of seasons Bjugstad has matched or exceeded Bluegers 18-19 WAR60 of 0.11

ZERO

That's fine, he's an NHL player. Is he a legit NHL center? Ok, great, he's a NHL center (easily debatable). Is he a 3rd line center on a Cup team? That's quite a leap.
- Hockey66

Bjugstad capable of being a 3c on a cup team? Absolutely not.

No, I just trust them more than some randos on a blog chat. If they thought Blueger gave them a better chance to win than Wilson or Cullen, I think he would have played more. I'm not saying they are infallible, but if he can't beat out a plug and a guy who should have retired, then he must not be doing enough. That's two guys blocking him, not just one.

That's fine, right now I trust him way more than Blueger. So does the front office and coaching staff.

Fine, Bjug sucks, can't play center, we should get rid of him, and Blueger is the second-coming at 3C. Happy?

Why don't you work for an NHL team (or any hockey team) if you know more than they do? Surely someone in the hiring process would see this and hire you.

And yes, I admit that I'm a rando, that's why I'm not acting like I know more than the professionals.

Page goes dim and I get nothing. Not my day. Either way, I believe you. Bjugs has been underwhelming his entire career. I was very pleased with his play centering Hornqvist and Simon. Not saying he isn't replaceable, but I feel Rust has equal value and at this point is more replaceable.

Fine, according to you, Bjug isn't a very good center, is easily replaceable by Blueger at the 3C, and is isn't even as good as Blueger. That is what you said, paraphrased.

And you were right.

No. The success of every team falls solely on the 3c.

Maybe. Maybe not. I hope they were wrong and Blueger becomes a stud. But I would say the clock is ticking on Blueger becoming a regular in the NHL (this will be his age 25 season).

Back to the original point before this ridiculous digression, I don't want to get rid of Bjug and just assume that Blueger can handle the 3C position. Sure, give him the 4C to start the year and see how he does. If he excels, then promote him to 3C.

But right now, if we get rid of Bjug without bringing back a center, then I think our center depth is very suspect and that is not a position you want to be lacking at depth, especially as Crosby and Malkin get older and have a history of injuries (moreso Malkin).

You are stating an opinion, not fact, so you can't be either right or wrong. You think Bjug is easily replaceable by Blueger at the 3C position and that Blueger is better than Bjug at the 3C. I don't think a 28 game sample size is enough to make that determination and I THINK (opinion) it would be both foolish and risky to assume that. But you are entitled to your opinion.

Simple. You sign Sheahan for 700k. Save 3.4m by trading Bjugstad which goes towards Petterson and the remainder is left for flexibility for trades later on.
