This is in regards to the 2nd buyout window. When were Richards and Girardi bought out?

There's one last catch, though - this can only be done three times by each team. Not three times per year - three times over the entire length of the current CBA.

Richards was a compliance buyout

Girardi was a June buyout

I can’t find anything on how many per buyout, but if it is only 1 it has to be Shattenkirk bc of the savings this year.

I do believe if that's the rules, and they can't find the trades, you and I are in agreement on this one

they'll just have to figure out he's horrendous cap hit next year when the time comes

Next year should be ok though, Fast/Nam/Beleskey will be gone and Girardi’s cap hit will go down by 2.5. Right there that’s 9.5. His only bad year cap hit wise is next at 6 million so we only save 600k next year.

Smith seems to be the only logical one really. Staal they will never do. Shatty I rather play him and move him at TDL this year or next at half the cost. He still has a name and some value

Then what do you make of the rumors they were shopping him at 50% retained and no one wanted him?

Could you imagine if Richards was a regular buyout? They would still be dealing with that cap hit for another 8 years

Teams are more likely to want Shatty at the deadline when making PO push or 1 year left on his deal. Now his value is low so few people are interested. Play him, hope he does well, trade him

at this point in time they need to create 8 million in space for 2019-20, I think anything is on the table

I agree with you but if we are unable to trade some of these guys for whatever reason buying out Smith won't clear out enough cap space to get our guys signed this year. Smith saves us roughly $3.4M this year with a buyout whereas Shatty would save us $5.1M

True, but his cap hit will kill us following year. Any one have numbers for Staal or Hank? hank never happening but curious the savings
