With Elliott it's not a matter of if he will get hurt, it's when.
Doesn't make much sense to go down this road again.

You must be referring to Nuevy, Elliot got hurt when he was overplayed his first year, and came back early from his surgery. Was this past years injury core related? I can't recall.

Who knows? Might have been too much money, or too much term. Or perhaps they felt Talbot was shot.

I thought maybe rumoured amount was out that. If he was looking for 4 mil X4 no way.

As I've read though he wanted to be a 1 or 1A split with commensurate money. No dice baby.

Not too thrilled with this Elliott signing, but I get it. As a vet, he will be a good mentor. I just don't see him staying healthy, too much of an injury history. Probably did come with overuse, but now that he has had these surgeries it just takes one play for him to tweak something, and then it's a Hart/Lyon tandem. That doesn't bode well. More fingering crossing in goal this year.

When he's hurt like he always is, have a minor leaguer playing the second half of all the back to backs and miss the playoffs again. Sound like a plan?

I don’t love it. In fact, I thought he was pretty awful when he was healthy. But if he can have a positive influence on Hart I’m fine. Certainly not going to make a stink over 1 year at $2 million. But if he gets hurt........

but thats the thing, he was pretty good when healthy

He's started 65 games over two years. That is overused?

Don't worry, Elliot has averaged 36 starts over 12 years in the NHL.

We only need him for like 20, right?

Nice to have Moose back. He's pretty much the perfect 1A if he can be healthier.

I love how as a Flyers fan, you can’t be critical of them. Love what they do or leave.

This post is an overreaction.

With all the back to back and 3 games in 4 nights, I'd say more in the 25-30 range.

At least he's good when he's healthy.

Talbot sucks. Cam Ward sucks. Dunno who else was rumored to be coming here, but they either stink or are too expensive.

Make sure Alex Lyon is signed as the back up to our back up.

I dont believe that to be the case. Hes not Nuevirth. I think his issue(s) came from the stress of over use and rushing back before he was fully healed because the team didnt have a better option. That wont be the case going into this season( unless Hart poops the bed and thats a whole load of different hurt to deal with). Whwn Elliot came back last season, he out performed Talbot and Hart to an extent. (frank)ing Talbot trade hahahahahhaha......but I digress, he held his own and kept them in games that they had no business being in last year. With a lighter work load, I really like Elliot.
I think this was Hextall's plan all along. USe Elliot as a bridge to Hart and keep him as the back up as Hart takes over......funny how things work out

Brian Elliott is very good when he’s healthy but c’mon with the “He’s not Neuvirth” stuff. Who are you trying to convince, the guys who disagree with the signing or yourselves?

Look at his first year here, and the percentage of games he played up until he got hurt. Last year I think he was still dealing with the affects of the previous injury.

Totally discounting the large chunks he missed due to injury and not looking at his workload when he was playing

If he was healthy I'd have zero issue with it. I think you need a reliable option as a backup when you are playing a young kid as your # 1.

65 games in two seasons is very low, no matter how you look at it.

I’m sorry but nobody should spit shine and turd and convince everyone it’s beautiful. A turd is still a turd. Brian Elliott is a goaltender in his mid 30’s who has trouble staying healthy. He is what he is.

Lol they fail to look at he plays 13 of 14 and then gets hurt, that's why he played 65 games over two years.

That is a fair point.
