That Pronger deal was so huge I still remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard about it. |

If you're getting a lot of hits as a defenseman, you're probably spending too much time stuck in your own zone. A winger with a lot of hits may be a good thing.
What you want is someone who wins puck battles, then either gets a shot off or delivers the puck to someone wearing the same colored jersey who is in a better position to shoot the puck or move it to someone else wearing the same colored jersey.
Wayne Simmonds, despite his grit and net front presence, had deteriorated in his ability to win puck battles and sustain puck possession over the last few seasons from average to poor. He still has value but finding the right fit is his main hurdle.
Ghost is an enigma. When he is on, he is an electric player who is borderline elite. When he is not. . .meh. His contract splits the difference, so, he is alternatively underpaid or overpaid.
After the Niskanen deal, imo, the best use of Ghost would have been to pair him with Provorov and Niskanen with Sanheim. While not a L/R pairing, the hope would be they would drive possession as they did in 17-18.
The acquisition of Braun implies either the team is comfortable having him on the 3rd pair ES and PP1 or the inconsistency is too much and he is a prime trading chip to fill another need, say a fast possession winger. I suppose we'll know by the time camp opens. |

Hard to believe it’s been 10 years since the Pronger trade. In hindsight, that was right move to make. It’s a shame that they only got about 2 years out of him before the concussion that ended his career. |

At a draft party in NE Philly with a bunch of buzzers. It killed our buzz just because there was no real point in being at a draft party any more. |

The Pronger Calm is definitely the type of influence our young D men could use out there.
Not claiming Nisk or Braun has that, but as veterans I hope they bring a level of "been there done that" calm to how our D plays. |

I remember the Pronger trade like it was yesterday. A friend texted me and told me that I was in for a big surprise and about ten minutes later the trade was announced.
I think that as long as Ghost is being asked to be a pass to move player and not carry to pass player, he is not in his element. He showed as a rookie that when he is tasked with carrying the puck to create a pass, he excels. He has been reined in more and more to be a pass and not carry. That is taking one of his strengths from him.
Also, as a rookie, and to a lesser extent two years ago, Ghost had an eerie ability to get shots through. What was even more impressive was the number of these shots that were taken when he was on the move and not in a stationary position. Even if it was just a glide towards the pass, he was moving. It seems he shoots better/more accurately when moving.
Yes, I know this is all nit picking and if he is really THAT good he should be that good no matter the system. BUT, if you have a player with the tools he possesses, you should bend the system to his strengths and not stifle them.
Just My opinion. |

If 7 x $7 is the rumored price for Gardiner then how can Provy expect more after last season? I know we could offer Provy the 8th year but $7 should be the ceiling imo.
Thoughts? |

I still feel like the Lindell contract should be kind of the area of his contract. Maybe a little more you can argue but look at the numbers.
Are they that far off? |

So what you're saying is Flyers have moved on from all 3 and they will all become first-ballot HHOFers?
Actually, with Zubov getting in, that last part may be on the money. |

Yes, but he was strapped down to the bed, motor oil smeared all over his body.
Then she walked with nothing but a saddle and a pair of jumper cables. |

Pontus Aberg would be a nice get from the pool of unqualified RFAs. |

Hearing #Flyers & RFA Travis Konecny are progressing positively towards a deal. Two deals being discussed, longterm deal around $4.75M AAV & bridge deal around $3.25M AAV. Value / reward is there for longterm deal with TK being back to back 24G scorer. #FlyersTalk #LetsGoFlyers
*edit - I have no clue if this guy is a reliable source. |
