Shero certainly has plenty of resources to make some major moves. This includes cap space, draft picks, free agency and trades. The question is what are we willing to do. Last year was a massive zero and the poop hit the fan.
If we can get Subban cheap with the cap hit and pick up an asset trading for Perry then maybe we should. This team needs to make a splash. The time is now to gamble. The rebuild needs to end. |

8 Year $80 million offer on July 1st. If he doesn't sign it by July 2nd start sending out feelers on what other GMs would offer. If the season opens without a contract his trade value starts depreciating by the day. |

I'd prefer to trade for someone on the left side and try to extend Vatanen on the right, but I'd have zero problem taking Subbans contract, problem is I don't know what we have that Nashville needs, I don't think they move Subban for a handful of picks. |

Todd Cordell: On the Taylor Hall contract situation - Todd.Cordell
I hope we don't cater too hard to Hall. Ultimately the ball is in Shero's court. 1 more season of an elite player with the option to trade him retaining half of his contract makes him the most desirable trade deadline acquisition going into the season. He will be 29 years old just two months into the start of his next contract, and if he is moved at the deadline, the massive return may be enough to entice him back in the offseason.
With Nico, Hughes, and hopefully Smith emerging as stars, we need to assess the risk of a long term commitment vs moving Hall and developing the youngest prospect pool in the league.
The Larsson trade was an absolute steal, and I have loved watching Hall. But Shero is in no need to panic. Hopefully Hall see's that this team has transformed greatly over the past two years, and that some of this young talent is ready to take the next step forward regardless of offseason acquisitions. |

Trade proposal for Vegas.
To Vegas - Zacha, Zajac 50% salary, Boston 2nd rd pick
To NJD - Statsny, Touch
Saves Vegas 8.425M minus whatever Zacha's contract is. Gives them a quality shutdown C in Zajac, but far cheaper than Stats. Touch is too good to be a #3RW which he currently is on that cap-maxed roster. Plus, Hall would like these additions. Win/Win |

I can’t imagine trading a guy who wants to leave the team and getting enough assets to get him to sign in free agency... but it could be a brilliant move if possible.

I'm not worried either way. Either we sign Hall long term or we get a great haul for him. There's no way Shero let's him just walk of that I'm confident |

Yeah, me neither. Just saying we should try to add even if the player or situation isn’t perfect. |

One will surprised how not so great a haul you will receive. He doesnt make his teams any better than they are, is always injured, is a winger who cant find his own end, and will be a ufa. Late first round pick and prospect at best. Id rather a steady top pairing dman who shuts down the opposition on a great cap hit. Thanks shero for larsson. |

If Nashville would be willing to do a Subban for Hall swap, would you guys be okay with that? |

Would need more than Subban for that |

Not sure we’d get it though. Subban 3 years remaining Hall has 1. |

Devils gotta take a stand and learn from the likes of Parise and Tavares. January 1 is the deadline Shero should set. If he's not signed by then, Hall has to be moved. |

My thoughts exactly.
A one for one straight up is a fair offer honestly when all things considered. It also makes sense for both teams.
It addresses Nashville's need for offense (19th last year in GF/game), while NJ's defensive issues (6th last year in most GA/game) of finding a #1 to lock down that top pairing is solved. These stats may be too simplistic, but it may strongly correlate to the strength's/weaknesses in those areas in terms of options for deployment.
Nashville can afford to trade away a player like Subban with Josi (will be extended), Ellis, Ekholm all locked down and Fabbro on his way.
You guys need defense more than anything. Offensively, losing Hall would be a hit, but the #1 pick from this year would help offset that. If you guys could land Panarin or to a lesser extend Nyquist (if either are available), that'll help too. |

You might be right. I'm still optimistic about the situation so I'm not thinking very realistically about trade scenarios. |

I wouldn't and Subban is a great player but if we are trading Hall then we are starting from the bottom again and that means building around Nico, Hughes, Smith Boqvist, Bratt etc etc ...so I would want high pick plus a top prospect/player who fits the age of our rebuild. So if Nashville wants to trade us Eeli Tolvanen plus and I would add something to Hall also, I can get behind that |
