But EK said the Pens! - Rinosaur
Yea or nay:
A trade centered around Nick Leddy for Phil Kessel, not necessarily one for one
edit: I'm aware the Isles and Pens probably aren't going to make a deal |

I like PK, but not at 9 large, so any team but the Preds is a good fit. |

The return would have to be pretty compelling, but I think they should move him.
Random point: I ran into Ryan Johansen in downtown Nashville today at the bank. I thought it might have been a promotion, but he was just using the ATM.

I think the Preds should trade Subban - but only if he returns a top-6 forward or top-4 D. Most of the teams that can afford Subban don't have those kind of assets to sacrifice. If you unload Subban for prospects/picks and just as a salary dump, then you have to fix your roster on the FA market - which can be pretty expensive. I know they need space to re-sign Josi long-term. Maybe they can trade him to Colorado and bring Sam Girard back plus some picks. They'd save millions against the cap, and Girard could slot into the top 4 without an issue. |

I’m sure teams are going to take Toronto’s bad contracts so they can get Subban. |

Any self-respecting millionaire tycoon would have a small army of contemptible common men getting his $500 max. ATM withdrawal. |

For win right now, a trade of Kessel for Subban probably makes the most sense. I don't know what's the dollar difference that's allowed for 1:1 trades, but The Preds will gain another $3 mil which can go to Josi's next contract. If they can find a taker for Turris' contract, they might be able to sign Duchene.
What I would like (as a Devils fan) is for Subban to be traded for the Devils. They have the cap space, but I don't think the Devils have any desirable pieces (that they're willing to give up). I would say Hall for Subban if Hall doesn't sign an extension this summer. Maybe in a dream scenario Vataneen (cheaper right-handed defenseman Preds can sign), one of Zacha or McLeod (help with center), one of the extra 2nd rounders. Throw in Wood, Anderson, or Quenneville (more projects where the Preds might be able to do something)if it definitely gets the deal done (which it won't).
A lot of Devil fans say the price is not worth it, but I disagree. A needed right-handed defenseman and a player to market, that's win-win. |

I think Colorado can use $9M in cap space better than trading a cheap young defenseman for Subban. |

That would leave Pittsburgh with 8 forwards under contract and about $2M in cap space + whatever the rise in the upper limit is. That seems like a bad idea for them, so I'm all for it. |

Nashville has plenty of defenders so I don't think they want or need Vats. Not sure how Shero gets this trade done but I think it's worth exploring for sure.

Subban isn't going to get traded for future assets. Poile's looking to retool the roster, not rebuild it... Yet. Trading Subban isn't strictly a salary dump, the Preds need help upfront in the worst way, and Subban is one of the few pieces they have to get them some of that help and just so happens to be chewing up a nice portion of your cap. Free agency is too much of a crap shoot, so unless Polie's 100 percent confident he can bring in Duchene or someone come July 1st, trading Subban for anything less than an absolute need doesn't make any sense. Think what you will of P.K., but if a P.K.-less Predators team takes the ice next year, without any significant changes to the forward unit then well... They're definitely not going to be any better than they were this season. |

I think I would keep Subban at 9 M for 3 years and tradeable at 30, vs Seabrook and Keith with over 12 M for 4 and 5 more years until their 40 ! and you can't trade them.
Enjoy ! |
