I would take Joki, Boqvist, Beaudin and Mitchell over the LA d-prospects you listed and I still want Byram because none of our guys or their guys are a true #1 d-man, which Byram has a chance to be.

I don't know that LA would take Byram over a center - but that's the point, I don't know so if I want Byram I take him at #3 instead of gambling he will be there at #5.

Well you can as a condition of the deal that LA would not select Byram, done all the time. With Doughty, LA has their #1 D for awhile, offense for them is much more of a need.

Love seeing Columbus stand up to the Goonins' so called toughness. Not so "bad" after all. Have I said how much a dislike those bum holes?

How'd we go from a goal not counting because the ref was going to blow a whistle to a goal counting even though he blew the whistle?
- walleyeb1

Agree, but i believe it was the right call

Really thought BJs were going to give up the lead, nice save on Bergeron

If that's true that you can make a condition like that, then maybe it would work. Maybe something along the lines of swap #3 and #5 and 2nd round picks so the Hawks get LA's 2nd rounder (#33?) and LA gets the Hawks' 2nd rounder (#43?). Course, watch LA take the center Colorado wants so Colorado takes Byram.

There's been talk about possibly signing UFA Ryan Dzingel this summer but after not playing last game he got 10:33 in this game and didn't play in the 3rd period. Was he hurt or did Torts just not play him? If he didn't get hurt and could have played in the 3rd period, that gives me some pause about trying to sign him ... and I know Torts can go red-ass on a player but even still it's not a good sign.

Nice win by Columbus. Wouldn't it be cool if the 4 wildcard teams made it to the conference finals. I'm rooting for that to happen.

Hope not already have dcat don't need another 5 7 guy who will be physically overwhelmed in the playoffs.
- Scott1977

You can't be overwhelmed in the playoffs if you don't make the playoffs.

Tyler if you the gm of the hawks just for discussion sake who would you pick with the 3rd overall pick? Make the pick trade the pick or trade down and pick up more picks or players?
- Scott1977

I would make the pick but would definitely listen to trade offers.

I'm liking Cozens and Dach but I'm still figuring out my final selection. I will name my pick before the draft.

Not a good sign that Torts is a fan.

Good news is if the Hawks want to sign him, his pricetag is dropping a tad thanks to his inconsistent playoff performance.

Anyone else like Kevin Lebanc? Nice to have a little offense on the 4th line.

I also like some of the agitating Stars and Avs (Compher). There are just certain guys that are always around the puck. Would be really nice for Hawks to have those in the bottom 6 vs. the hold-your-poop and breath everytime they touch the puck.

What I really don't get with that little pr&&k, is he has skills, so why does the demented jerk play like he does?

Right - that's what I meant when I wrote "after not playing last game" - I knew he was scratched and then got back into the lineup tonight only to play 10:33 and none in the 3rd.

Interesting note per Pierre LeBrun...

Jeremy Colliton at the Sharks/Avs game and is sitting with the scouts.

Karlsson to the Hawks confirmed.

He's going down into the tunnel at the end of the next period to talk to Timo Meier - pending RFA - directly about the possibility of signing an offer sheet with the Hawks.

Cozens and Dach would be good choices, but I don't think Byram can be overlooked. He could be better than any of the prospects in the pipeline.

No please. The cap space number that the Hawks are supposed to have this summer ($15M - $17M) is misleading and setting up Hawks fans to be disappointed when Stan doesn't spend nearly that much. Even with the comment by Stan that he must look to next summer too with the implication being not all $15M-$17M is free to sign free agents this summer - I think too many Hawks fans are expecting a couple high-end free agents to be signed of maybe one mega-player (Karlsson) and another mid-level guy and I just don't see how the math works on that. Two mid-level guys seems more likely.

I think Byram is on a par offensively with the prospects and better defensively because he has a physical chippy game the others do not.
