I agree. It seems that drafting Cozens or Dach would be drafting the best player available, AND a position of need.
- tvetter

I don't care how bad or good you are, if you are not drafting the best player available, regardless of position, you will regret it down the road.

#3 is a great spot - select a good player; trade the pick for a really good NHL ready player; trade down for a lower pick plus something else. Lots of good options for Bowman.

With all the indecision, I'm thinking as long as you don't move past 5 or 6 and can get another high pick or #1 next year I would certainly consider it.

I'd consider it, too. That said, the indecision may reside only with fans. Maybe the front office has a kid in mind that to them is a clear choice.

I want Byram so exchanging picks with anyone other than Colorado at #4 risks Byram not being there at #5 or #6. Most likely Colorado doesn't take Byram because they just introduced Makar and Girard into their d-corps so they probably want a center - but LA and Detroit at #5 and #6 may grab Byram at #3.

I was just reading a article and it appears Chicago is interested Byram , but not at selecting 3rd overall and with a few bad contracts Stan might opt to move down in the draft while unloading a bad contract?

That seems like a solid move to position Chicago's future cap in a better situation.

Florida could be the team.

Maybe everyone should just send in their preferences from 1 to 12 (including Hughes and Kakko) with no comments or reasoning and then just wait to see what happens.

Ridiculous concept and idea.

Unless you secure a second mid first rounder to draft Spencer Knight along with one of the top six, you do not move from where you get the highest guy on your board.

THESE bad contracts hAVE TO AGREE to a trade, and that might be a bigger issue than what it isworth....but think about it...you take the best kid, your cap is going to reduce and you hAVE a huge talented player that is closer in his development to help you...if you trade doiwn you may wait longer to get that huge impact from him...

I don’t know who wrote it, but sure doesn’t sound like it’d be worth reading! Just plain silly on a number of levels. No way they’d drop back from #3 to #13. Also there’s no way Byram is still available at #13!

Kings have Philips, Durzi, Anderson, Roy, Walker and MacDermid as defense prospects, all rated high, They have a boart anchor contract in Phaneuff, still have Doughty Forbort (I assume Martinez gets traded). They need help in the top 6, Vilardi and Grunstrom will help (maybe), but their top 6 includes Iaffolo, Brown, Kovi, Carter (which is another contract they would love to dump), and Toffoli (bad year). The only true top 6 they have is Kopitar. they need goal scoring bad, I would think if they had #3, they go for the Russian, or one of Dach or Couzins.

Everyone has dumped Podkoizin . I still like him unless he stays in Russia, but Caufield would be next.

If he is the player they want (Canfield) then you trade down I havent seen him rated number 3 anywhere it’s not like we don’t need help in other places.

It comes down to who they think is the 3rd best player is and where they can get him if they thought spencer knight was there pick it would be foolish to not drop at least a bit to get him closer to where his value is even if they swap picks with the kings or ave season as long as they get another asset. That’s the big picture.

The article actually laid out a lot of great points and I gathered from reading the article it was based on some inside knowledge.

Seabrook, Keith, toews , Kane all have high salaries, toews and Kane aren't a big deal. It's Keith and Seabrook that hurt this team considering their ages , length of contract left, decline in play , limited roster spots available with them.

It's those salaries that affect this team because your not getting the production and your spending more money in theory just to compensate for the lack of production.

Or your losing players due to no cap flexibility.

The only solution is to buy out Seabrook, but even that doesn't help due to the way the salary fluctuates each year.

I would take Joki, Boqvist, Beaudin and Mitchell over the LA d-prospects you listed and I still want Byram because none of our guys or their guys are a true #1 d-man, which Byram has a chance to be.

I don't know that LA would take Byram over a center - but that's the point, I don't know so if I want Byram I take him at #3 instead of gambling he will be there at #5.

Apparently untouched by any player so it’s progress was unaffected by the whistle.

At least that’s how I’m interpreting “continuous play”.

Indeed, its been a great series so far.

Interesting to me is to watch Panarin closely - I forgot how weak sauce he can be in his own zone.

How'd we go from a goal not counting because the ref was going to blow a whistle to a goal counting even though he blew the whistle?

Depends on which side of his mouth the whistle was blown (or not) from.
