I mean, wow, Leafs add a LHD a month before the deadline when RHD was the main issue, not like they could possibly add more defensive depth (LHD or RHD) or anything like that anyways amirite lol - Conquest
It's this line of thinking I don't understand.
It was only until last season that even considering moving a first round pick in Toronto was sacrilege.
John Tavares signed for 7 years. The dynamic young talent is around 21-22 yo. How incredibly short sighted have a substantial amount of Leafs fans become.
Dubas moved a first and two prospects already this year. What more should he do, mortgage the entire future for right now? |

He made an upgrade for this playoff run PLUS replaced Gards next season with a likely 3 million cheaper contract in cap hit. It was a great move.
He can fix the RHD in the off-season when there are more available and aren’t asking for the moon for guys like Pesce. |

He moved those assets for a LHD, knowing babs wouldn't play him at RHD. People kid themselves if they actually thought he'd be paired with Rielly. So now, Dermott gets bumped down to the 3rd pair and the Leafs still have plugs playing on the right. Makes a lot of sense. |

Marincin should not be on an NHL roster, period. If even 1 LHD got hurt, he was the first one getting plugged in. Sure enough, Gardiner and Dermott go down and he's floating around on the main roster again. If the Leafs were serious about getting past the 1st round, the assets for that Muzzin trade should've been put towards a RHD. Dubas wanted his guy and he got him, but Babcock and him evidently aren't on the same page based on his usage. - Conquest
Muzzin played nearly 24 minutes against Ottawa, pretty sure Babcock is using him. |

Muzzin is playing lots. Stop complaining about nothing.
It’s not just a move for this season either. Think a little. |

Everyone and their mothers came out after the deadline and said the cost to acquire a defenseman was really high.. I'm glad that Dubas didn't overpay for a short-term fix. - PatC80
I love how fans think they know what players cost.
I’d imagine Pesce who’s signed for 5 more years would of costed more than a 1st and two prospects....based on that I’d imagine the asking was Kapanen and prospects. |

'Third pair' means literally nothing. Situational usage is everything. As long as Dermott is getting appropriate minutes in the right situations there is nothing wrong with that. His development is going great.
Santo just illustrated above why it was much more thought out than should've used it on mystery RHD X. |

Why?
They have tons of bottom pairing depth. That’s a non issue. These last 10 games don’t matter. Rosen, Dermott, Borgman will be healthy for playoffs. That’s the depth. There is zero need to trade for defensive depth just to get an extra home game.
They traded for the best defensmen on the market and for a great price next year when Gardiner leaves. - Santo_44
Yes home games matter. |

How is that wrong? Are you joking me? That's cool that he wants them up, that doesn't mean anything. Babs plays his RHDs and his LHDs. Neither of those guys would be filling in for dermott or jake, babs would have them split after 1 shift. You need to calm down and stop taking a simple discussion and making it into an argument. Leafs hording offense, thats cool, but you can't possibly expect to get without giving lol. - Conquest
How do you know? He plays Hainsey on RHD.
You don’t know. Players could come out and say that they don’t feel comfortable playing the other side.
They play LH and RH on the Marlies on opposite sides to test it out.
And huh? Calm down? come on man don’t be all sour because someone disagrees with you. It takes two to debate and you keep commenting back. If you don’t want to argue simply don’t comment. It’s that simple. |

Have to think that if a top 4 RHD was available at the same cost as Muzzin, that Dubas would have explored that option. I understand your point, it's great to have 3-4 really good LHD, but that does absolutely nothing for the right side.
To be honest, I think Muzzin was brought in for two reasons.
1) toughness, Cup winning experience.
2) replace Gardiner next season |

Hainsey is old and slow now, but no one else has been able to adequately fill that role or even get a chance to. No one is being sour lol, you're being dismissive because someone doesn't agree with your narrative. If you don't like it, there's no need to be a condescending twat. Just don't reply lol |
