Thanks for the kind words. I'll hopefully have somebody higher up when the playoffs roll around. More teams will be watching. |

What are your thoughts on Abromov? I saw you respond in some threads after the trade and the comments seemed positive. |

I really like him. I wrote a little on the Hotstove about him. He's boom/bust, but he's so smooth. I think he fits extremely well with the Sens prospects. I would love to see the net attack from him + Tkachuk. |

Good stuff, nice to hear considering the Sens tend to take "safe" two way guys so often.
On Rossi, should the Sens be as high on him as they are? Just googling his numbers, they seem pretty good considering it's his first year, but it reminds me of them taking guys from Ottawa just for the sake of being from or playing in the area. |

Rossi is a gamer imo. He's got a lot of Mitch Marner in him, with maybe a bit more defensive game to him, but less extreme creativity. Playing with Keating/Felhaber has helped, no doubt, but he's a driving force and probably the best 17 year old in the league right now (including guys eligible this year). I'm biased though. I've seen him play live about 16 times now and I instantly watch him when he steps on the ice. His movements are so dynamic. |

Byfield?

Byfield? - spatso
my opinion only, but I think Byfield is getting a lot of extra attention based on the fact that he's really big. I think there are a lot of guys who are significantly more skilled than he is, but they aren't 6'4
obviously I'm not saying he isn't good, the guy is probably a lock as a top 5 pick next year.........but most people are extremely guilty of "size bias" when looking at players like that. they see 6'4 215lbs and see almost nothing else. |

I have only read the reviews and perhaps you are right. I have not seen him play. Big guys who dominate in junior based on their size are shocked when they get to the NHL. Playing against full grown men with high end defensive skill can make a big guy look very average.
Mario was big and strong but used skill and finesse more than his formidable size. For me, the best dominate big man who came into the league who used his size on every shift was Eric Lindros. In the early years of his career, he was frightening. In addition to being big...he was mean and that was an important part of his game. He would have been a first ballot hall of fame had his history with concussion not shut him down.
At one point, I thought Matthews might be the next big man to dominate over his career. He is a good goal scorer but teams have figured out how to play him and he does not seem to have dominate hockey gene.
Let's see how far Byfield can carry his team. I think that is the real test. Can you carry a team as a big guy playing the #1 centre in the early playoffs and beyond. |
