Well (frank), so it was pending approval? That's pretty damn disappointing that we actually could have had Hagelin back if it wasn't against the rules. Miss that dude.
But yeah, this blog is pretty spot on. Dude's just throwing poop at the wall and seeing what sticks. |

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion... By taking a risk on Tanner Pearson, it could have turned out to be a brilliant decision. The thing is is he realized it, and tried to get the ship back in the right direction. I'd rather have a risk-taker general manager then a manager that sits back on his laurels and does nothing. He traded away a player that was sitting in the Box every night for a temporary defenseman who Maybe below average but it's worked before in the past so why not try at least? |

Seems like there was a deal in place but never submitted to league because of the ineligibility on PITs part. |

Pearson for Hags seemed like it had the potential to be a great trade... For whatever reason, Pearson couldn't improve here... So he shipped him out... For a player that fills a need... How's that illogical? |

If this is true it’s not just bad on Rutherford, but the whole organization that it got that far with nobody realizing it was against the current cba. I was recently President of my local union and read both our contract and bylaws piece by piece just by reading eveytime I took a crap. I know that contract like the veins in my shaft. Hire me pens, lotsa pooping can go down. |

The part that doesn't make sense is when you and others keep calling Gudbranson a short term replacement. Dude has two more years of term at a high dollar. Unloading a better defender in Hunwick on a better contract cost us a middle six, ~40 point winger. Gudbranson is widely regarded as one of the worst defensemen in the league. Even Mackey who drinks his coffee out of JR's jock strap couldn't find a way to spin his on ice play as a positive in his post-deadline 20 Thoughts. Gudbranson is gonna cost us a premium to unload, or we're just stuck with him and will have to sell off actual contributors like Maatta and Rust to make sure our cap is tenable moving forward. |

He successfully took an expiring contract and turned it into a $4m 8th D man for 2 more years... |

It’s not just taking on the 4m on an 8th d that scares me but what he’ll do to correct it (trading Matta for cap space since JJ and gud are not able to be traded) |

Seems like two GM's didn't know that rule in the CBA. Regardless, I'm not sure I blame Rutherford for throwing sh!t at the wall. This team should be in better shape than it is.
Obviously, Gudbranson wouldn't be the sh!t I'd choose to throw. |

Casey Cizikas just scored his 18th goal. He's the Isles 4th line center.
Great pace to Leafs and Isles if you guys have any way to watch it.. |

And to be clear I love the idea of gudbranson breaking a Dubinsky or some other scrubs face after they try mucking it up with Sid,Geno,Letang, or goalie. However at what cost with that cap hit and I’m don’t think you’ll be able to trade it away without a roster player or high draft pick. |

I've never seen him play so I dont have an opinion. I trust in the organization because I've seen 3 cops in my lifetime. We cant have all Letangs or Shultz on the team.
My question is who was the GM that gave Grudbrason that contract and what did he see in him? |

Jim Benning who also gave Brandon Sutter like a $4.5 mil contract. I don’t think that dude has made a good decision in his career. |

I can't say I've seen a ton of him either, but I've seen the clips and it's not good. It goes deeper than playing on a bad team. The larger point is he's clearly not a top 4 D and the Pens shouldn't be in the business of taking on bottom pairing D (or worse) with albatross contracts. I honestly don't have a problem with physical players, but they need to be able to play competently. Rutherford is slamming the window shut with these type of players. |

When Cullen is gone next year I think everyone else is going to file down and create room for Bloog.
I don’t think there will be room for Hagelin, but of course he could become the new Cullen. |

We have 79mil committed and 4 RFA's to sign.....including Bluegs. It's ugly. I don't think those RFA's will be expensive, but still.... |
