this team is unwatchable.

i get they're young, but this is not an NHL calibre team right now. are they going to win another game this year....honestly?

Bryan Murray had the final say for each of those picks.

I mentioned picks CD fought for. Karlsson being the most prominent.

I'll be negative,

Since you happen to bring up the Sens draft history, let me show you the ones who didn't pan out:

Brian Lee (9th overall 05)
Jim O"brien (29th overall 07)
JARED COWEN (9th overall 10)
Stefan Noeson/Matt puempel/ Shane Prince (21st, 24th and 61st overall 11)
CODY CAPTAIN CECI (15th overall 12)
Curtis Lazar (17th overall 13)

Those are all in the 1st round outside of Shane Prince.

That's concerning

- Trilla

I am sure CD asked for a few of them but the one's I picked were ones DC fought for. Especially Karlsson.

They may never score again.

Chalapik looks like the only new young guy with any "NHL looking presence" in my opinion so far. The rest are pretty mediocre looking. Granted this is a crap time to make any prospect conclusions giving the trade deadline situation, but geez.

Guys like Smith, Ryan, and Pag could step it up a little bit but at the same time I feel they know they are the guys Dorion can't get rid of.

Tough times right now. I believe Ian Mendes are pretty vocal about the current situation being enough is enough. Melnyk and co need to stop blaming the media and fans for struggles and look at themselves. That isn't even a Melnyk specific thing, Rod Bryden guilted fans too.

I've never seen a market treat fans so poopty for so long any sport. Something needs to change.

LOL C prospects? Abramov is CBJ #1 prospect and Davidsson is #3/4.
- Athrin

C-bus system is terrible, these prospects will be fringe NHL-ers. Do not like this trade. This is a point a game player... nobody had a better offer?

Dorion is getting fleeced. Remember, for Duchene a year and a half ago, he gave up Turris, Bowers (former 1st rounder), 1st rounder this year and 3rd rounder too... the he flips him for, essentially, a first round pick and fringe prospects. He is getting taken advanatge of.

Question ... who was the last non-RFA to re-sign in Ottawa? Seriously, I don’t know.

A TON of CBJ fans on twitter HATE this deal, a lot of them didn't want to give up Abramov.......i'll take that as a positive sign.

the two 1st rd picks (potentially) are clearly the prize here. if panarin and bob are both traded, can't see why CBJ wouldn't re-sign him.

i'll reserve judgement until I hear more about Abramov

- sensarmy_11

If Panarin and Bob are traded- CBJ would be in rebuild mode. Duchene won’t stick around for that. No 2020 pick for Ottawa.

Pretty sure. I remember that draft and the eyebrows raised when Murray moved up with Nashville's pick to take EK65. Seems to be several articles on it as well.

"The following June, he convinced Murray into going off the board to select Erik Karlsson 15th overall. That’s the kind of pick that makes a scout’s career."

https://ottawasun.com/201...56-4021-a8bd-d975315684e4

"Likely having to trade Karlsson must be killing Dorion because as chief scout he convinced then GM Bryan Murray to move up in Round 1 to draft Karlsson at No. 15."

I know it's hard to not look at the 2 duchene trades under the same microscope, but at the end of the day they aren't comparable deals.

ottawa traded duchene away as a rental, when they acquired him he still had nearly 2 years left on his deal. that has a significant impact on value.

yes, the deal was incredibly short sighted at the time...but it's done, people need to move on. look at this deal on it's own merit, it's not bad.

Someone should start a betting pool on how many season ticket holders cancel for next year. or how many season ticket holders are left after the cancellations come in.

i have 3 friends, and my parents, who have all cancelled in the last week.

if Stone is moved i wouldn't be surprised to see this team in the bottom 3 attendance next year.

you should fear thew return for Stone..if all he got for Duchene was 1 st, and some undersized prospects even if one of them was ranked 48th best prospect in 2018, there is next to zero chance Duchene re-signs in CBJ, its a prety underwhelming return for a true 1C at over a point per game this season....

That was probably Anderson with his 2yr extension... which isn't looking so good right now at all (2nd worst GAA in the league).

As an aside, Smith appears to be leading all forwards in ice time by nearly 1:30, and Ceci has 1:30 more ice time than Chabot (after 2 periods)... both of which are horrifying, unless this is an attempt to showcase prior to the trade deadline.

i think the ice time disparity has a lot to do with Ottawa being on the PK for half of the first period

Good post. I'll eat my crow here. Not a fan of Sun articles, but still. Murray got the glory for the final say, but i didn't know he was pressured.

Again, good post. Used to be more stuff like this on this site which is what got me posting. However, the quality has really gone down lately. Nice to have a flash from the past.

lol 5m fine for being under the cap minimum, if sens are 10-15m inder the cap, Melnyk saves 5-10m so i would bet he will not hit the cap floor next yet to save money and just pay the 5m fine.

Hmm. If that is fact, that's gonna be scary.
