the prospects aren't very good.
It's a 1st and a couple a c grade prospects because why the hell would Duchene stay in Columbus who won't have Panarin or a goalie next year? |

Could be worse. Take all the firsts you can potentially get after ruining your franchise with the original Duchene, Hoffman and Karlsson trades. |

Does he care where he signs as long as he gets the deal he’s looking for?
Losing Panarin/Bob only opens up the amount of space Columbus has to work with.
Would still much rather sign a long term deal in Columbus than in Ottawa anyways from a “chance at winning sooner” perspective anyways. |

Not having their 1st this year is absolutely devastating, but depending on the hauls they now get for Stone and Dzingel, the Sens could be sitting very pretty in terms of accumulated assets over the past year. |

I would assume he probably wants to win something at some point, and that's probably not happening in Columbus with Panarin and Bob gone. The team wasn't all that good WITH those two. |

I think you are misjudging the prospects...Davidsson is having good numbers for a youngsters in the swedish league...needs to see if he can adapt here..
And Abramov was great in the Q, still only 20, need to give him more time... |
|
|
|
LOL C prospects? Abramov is CBJ #1 prospect and Davidsson is #3/4. |

I’m not disagreeing with you there. If I was a betting man I’d put my money on him not re-signing anyways as is. But Columbus still has a good foundation in Atkinson, Dubois, Jones, and Werenski to continue to build around moving forward. Not sure of their cap situation as a whole, but if they do re-sign Duchene and have the ability to still add, they’ve got good enough depth to continue being a contender even without Panarin/Bob. |

So, you traded
A top Prospect, Turris and a Top 3 2019 pick
for
A top Prospect, and a bottom 1st 2019 pick
Looks like a Melnyk business decision to me
|
|
|
|
Two prospects, a 1st and a conditional 1st is as good as they were going to get for MD.
As a (probably unintentional) side effect, has Doiron just made the return for Stone that much better by removing Duchene and potentially Panarin rom the market? |

A third line center with five more years at a $6 mil clip? I think the Sens are happy to not be fronting that bill.
But man oh man that 1st round pick hurts. At least the return on the EK deal so far hasn’t come around to bite them the way that most expected at the time of the deal. |

of all the teams on the list of teams pursuing duchene, CBJ was the worst place they could have sent him....they had the weakest prospect pools...Dorion is an incompetant moron. |
|
|

It is super easy to say "he should have traded to another team".
What if the other teams were offering less? You have no idea what other offers - if any - were presented.
Speculation is simply an exercise in futility unless you are a TSN pundit. |
