Um bowser is having the same season point wise and is a way better plus minus. How is that a slump?
On pace for over 30 at 82 and just under a point per game. Biggest difference is he is plus what 7 instead of a dash 5. Better season - Jkuzzi
The team as a whole is better and yes he is putting up the points but if you watch him closely he is not as fast or dynamic as he was last year. Individually some of his skills appear to have taken a small step back. Could just be chalked up to a long recovery time for his back though |

We also already have an undersized dynamic player of his calibre. I don't want a team full of small forwards. - golfingsince

If Gillis would have laid one of those babies down we could have lost the likes of Gaunce Schroeder McNally and Jensen . What would we have done then? |

I'm asking the questions, flood pants!
Yes, depends on the money offered.
$8,118,642 to $10,148,302 - Two first-round picks and a second- and third-round pick
I am on the fence, that's a lot of picks but Laine and Marner both seem to be the high end elite wingers we need. - neem55
I think either could get over 10.2 mill offers. It’s what it would take to not get matched.

I can think of Vanek, Weber and Kesler off the top of my head so there's been more than 1 in the past 23 years. - golfingsince
Kesler, Vanek, Hjalmersson, Penner and Weber are the only ones in the 2000's. None since 2010.
Edit: there was a fair few in the 90's |

I'm not so sure that's true. It's as much as the highest paid winger in hockey is getting. |

Interesting to hear JB talk about Gaudette, he basically said his defensive game is fine at the NHL level but he doesn't want to keep him up because he thinks his offense will develop better down in Utica.
Kind of the opposite mentality as with Goldobin - NorthNuck

We'll see. It's one thing to have one or two of those players, another completely to have a roster full of them. |

Laine is slumping yes but everyone sees what he brings and at his age he’s still going to get better. He’s getting a huge offer. I see that easily. Marner is also a phenomenal player. The leafs cap woes are the kicker here. They won’t be able to match that and, living in the heart of leaf land I hear it every damn day how he’s Toronto’s MVP. So less than that amount Toronto matches as bad as their cap situation will be. |

I think 10 to either team is a lot to match, I agree it's likely that either would match but I honestly think it could go either way. Matthews is going to get 12-13. Jets are up against the cap too, make no mistake. puts them in an odd position to pay Laine more than Wheeler or Shiefele. |

Huh, didn't know about O'rielly, well looks like you're right on this one. There hasn't been one in 6 years, but a few more before that than I was thinking. |

Basically i'd sign somebody to an offer sheet though, if for no other reason than driving their price up a bit. |

10.5 and above is 4 1st. 8.5 to 10.499 I believe it two 1sts. One 2nd. One 3rd |

That would be more reasonable. That's a lot of draft picks. You better not need them to round out the team to win a cup. |

Well done Carol. We are so lucky to have you.
'If you were Jim Benning, would you have traded Tanev for prospects Carl Grundstrom and Sean Durzi and the Leafs' 2019 first-rounder—which could have given Vancouver two first-round draft picks when they host the draft here in Vancouver in June?'
Yes.
And I would move Edler as well with the notion that he can re-sign here in the summer.
We could get amazing future assets for a healthy Edler/Tanev right now.
I get what they bring...but we would be fine. |
