I am not familiar with TOR's cap situation. I don't know what they could counter, but I imagine anything under 10 mill AAV would be a waste as they would counter immediately.

I'd rather throw the money at a #1 D or a center.

He wasn't the best, Matthews was. Keller was at the all-star game for a reason and is a rising star. Not too many guys get 65 their first year, pretty sure he is the real deal. That's just my opinion, but he's lived up to it just fine. 102 points in 132 gp is not bad for a 20 year old.

Depends on your perception of how much you value a player like Marner. The kid has such high praise by everyone, and TOR obviously will do anything in their power to keep him. I, personally, think the Canucks would be dumb to throw an offer sheet on a high end player, at this stage of their rebuild. Why mortgage so much of the future this way. just my opinion

yeah exactly, matching was my point though. Other than Weber (7.8 aav), none of the offer sheets extended to players were close to what will be for Marner though.

Vanek's deal was 7 years/$50 million back in 2006 or 2007.

I think this is the deal that really scared away the offer sheet, because it was worth 4 1sts if i'm not mistaken. Oilers picked 1st overall at least twice in that span.

Um bowser is having the same season point wise and is a way better plus minus. How is that a slump?

On pace for over 30 at 82 and just under a point per game. Biggest difference is he is plus what 7 instead of a dash 5. Better season
