You live in WPG. Are there rumblings out there ? I keep hearing Laine and the Jets are not seeing eye to eye. Any truth to the matter?

Laine misses Ehlers.

That is a high comparison, doesn't really look like the points are there to support you. He is having a good year this year, Keller is one of the all-time best performers in that league. ppg last year, 1.47 this year according to elite prospects.com. That's nice progress. Not in keller territory though (1.77). Nice that he can play center or wing though. Wouldn't hate the pick but I'm hoping we pick higher and nab one of the dmen. Too many dmen is a problem I'd love to have for the first time ever in this franchise.

Keller hasn't exactly lived up to being one of the best USDP players ever.

Laine or Marner for an offer sheet? Either? How much?

Interesting to hear JB talk about Gaudette, he basically said his defensive game is fine at the NHL level but he doesn't want to keep him up because he thinks his offense will develop better down in Utica.

Kind of the opposite mentality as with Goldobin

Not what I have heard. He is slumping badly, you know how it goes. Someone in the media creates some sort of drama.

I don't live in WPG.

Cost would probably be 4 first round picks. Do you want to give that up?

He wasn't the best, Matthews was. Keller was at the all-star game for a reason and is a rising star. Not too many guys get 65 their first year, pretty sure he is the real deal. That's just my opinion, but he's lived up to it just fine. 102 points in 132 gp is not bad for a 20 year old.

I'm asking the questions, flood pants!

Yes, depends on the money offered.
$8,118,642 to $10,148,302 - Two first-round picks and a second- and third-round pick

I am on the fence, that's a lot of picks but Laine and Marner both seem to be the high end elite wingers we need.

There is a reason there has only been one offer sheet signed in the last 23 years. Giving up 4 1st round draft picks and paying 10 mill AAV for Marner over 7 years is absolutely insane.

If I knew for absolute certain either of them would guarantee a Stanley cup then yes. We know that's not possible though.

But... It's two firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd. That's not 4 1ts, and surely merits some consideration. I always lean towards draft and develop but I'm a sucker for top5 picks. and that could be the final piece to longterm success.

I think a fair amount have been signed, they just usually get matched.

Ya, is it the last piece or not? Do we get to draft this year and give up picks the following year? I think it makes sense to teams that are more established, but if some people are right and we make the playoffs, changes those pick values a lot.

I'd rather throw the money at a #1 D or a center.

Nope. Not the case, Codes is right on this one. Anyone listen to the Chayka interview on 31 thoughts? he sounded very serious about making one. Good interview by the way.

yeah exactly, matching was my point though. Other than Weber (7.8 aav), none of the offer sheets extended to players were close to what will be for Marner though.
