You know Chiarelli is a bad GM when he makes Tambellini look good in comparison

What the hell happened to this dude? It wasn't that long ago that he built a cup winner in Boston....then he just fell off a cliff

I am curious to see if someone else will take a shot at him....

The Oilers still have fundamental issues that preceded Chiarelli and will succeed Chiarelli.

Whoever goes there next will also eventually be run out of town with sticks and stones.

Some of his moves were flat out stupid (trading an early second and mid first with really good players still available thanks to Boston for a defenceman that was getting flooded in the AHL), but the team was a train wreck when he inherited them, and will continue to be a train wreck until their fundamental issues are fixed.

Too bad the Red Wings pretty much have Yzerman on reserve...

Seguin trade = nothing as well, the Bruins have zero players, prospects or picks in their entire organization from the Seguin trade, that is THE worst trade in NHL history by far.....it's not even close........

Look back at the Hawk fiasco fo dealing Phil Espo to your Bruins. Ugly indeed!!!

It’s crazy that he lasted this long. He was making crazier and crazier moves, almost like he was trying to get canned. Kind of sad, was hoping for Bowman to fleece him for McDavid!
- resqmed99

Careful there. The way Hawk fans are clammering for Bowman to be relieved of his duties, you never know. Chiarelli could be next....shudder!!!

so, I'm not defending dorion, I don't think he's a good GM......but I also dont' think he's in the same league of awful as Chiarelli.

1. dorion is completely handcuffed by his insane, penny pinching owner

2. dorion isn't giving great assets away for peanuts
a. he traded away his 1st, but he got a bonafide #1 center in return
b. he traded away his best dman, but he got a lot of really good assets for him
c. he robbed Pittsburgh in the brassard trade

Chiarelli inherited a team that had great young talent, an owner willing to spend, and (frank)ING MCDAVID........and he took the team and completely flushed it down the poopter.

dorion inherited a team that was completely gutted of all prospects, and an owner who basically forces him to trade away any good players that command a big pay cheque.............I honestly thing he's done okay given the severe limitations he works under.

he obviously hasn't done a great job, but I'd be hard pressed to think of many GMs who would have done a whole lot better with Melnyk pulling their strings from above.

He did such a great job like his predecessors. The way things are going they should hire Janet Gretzky next and let Keith stay on as assistant.

Ouch. Seems I hit a nerve. Probably a Leaf fan with that reaction. If so, you got your own 50 year aches and pains to overcome. So, sorry for adding to the woe if that is the case my fine fella......cheers!!!
