If the rumor is to the AV's I will stick with what I wrote on the previous blog.
Hayes for Kaut & 2nd or Jost and a 2nd. Turns into a 1st if they win the cup or re-sign Hayes |

This is only somewhat comparable but I think the Ladd trade to Chicago in 16 is a pretty good gauge.
To Chicago
Ladd
Jay Harrison
Matt Fraser
To Wpg
1st rounder
Marko Dano
3rd rounder* get this pick if the hawks won the cup.
I think you can disregard Harrison and Fraser, look like they were just contract dumps. So they got a first rounder and a B/C level prospect.
Hayes is a little younger than Ladd was at the time but Ladd has a slight edge in terms of production. Im sure to some Ladd being a captain and bringing in leadership pumped his value somehow. Both UFAs.
So something similar I would think for Hayes. 1st rounder and a B prospect. Maybe toss in a conditional 2nd. |

To WPG: Kevin Hayes, Adam Mcquaid
To NYR: Jacob Trouba
Rationale: Obvious enough for the Rangers. A young talented RHD is an absolute necessity
For WPG, They lack depth down the middle and Mcquaid is on an expiring contract, which won't interfere with the cap hell that is coming this offseason (i imagine Hayes and Trouba will end up with roughly the same cap hit on their next contracts". Mcquaid is a a decent enough 4-6 D-man on a championship caliber team. Bfyuglien will be back at some point to fill out the D corp.
Edit: this is all predicated on the notion that Hayes would have to resign with WPG

I wasnt expecting any follow up questions. Letssss go with his hometown Boston to slot in 3C with the ability to move up with Krejci and Bergeron having some injuries the past year.
so a first rounder and Trent Frederic, drafted 29th in 2016. Then a conditional 2nd if they get past Tampa. |

Outside the box
To Montreal: Kevin Hayes
To NYR: Ryan Poehling and lotto protected 2019 1st round pick. (Should the Habs miss the playoffs and they keep it, Rangers get their 2020 1st round pick.) - tomburton99
So a 1st and one of their best prospects for....a guy who is 26, never had a 30 goal season and has a career high of 49 points?
I know people expect the moon around silly season because of "demand", but you can get a much better player for a 1st and a top prospect. |

Ryan Hartman got moved for a 1st round pick last year. Martin Hanzal was moved for a 1st pick in 2017. So yeah there is a track record. |

I know Bergevin said they weren't going to go out and add anything this year... He also said they weren't trading PK so who knows.

That is why I said Montreal. Bergevin isn't Chia levels of bad, but he's made a mistake or two. |

Ok if you want to cherry pick certain trades then ok...
Michael Grabner went for a Rykov and 2018 2nd. We can talk about Hartman, who at the time of the trade was what 22/23 with a 19 goal season under his belt AND about to become an RFA...not a 5M UFA. |

Patrick Eaves was also moved for 1st round pick. There is a history of Gm's moving picks and/or prsopects for players like Kevin Hayes or worse. Do I think my fictional proposal will happen, no. But I hope something like that will happen.

That's why you have so many silly trade proposals because people find the extreme and call that the deal. When in reality if you look at past history TDL deals you can find a reasonable balance between the stupid deals and the ones that make sense for both clubs.
Is everyone going to use the Tatar TDL as a benchmark now? 1st, 2nd and 3rd? That was a terrible deal, but that doesn't mean every GM will use that or bad GMs will repeat themselves. |

Ok the Blackhawks traded a 1st and at the time, prospect Khris Dhalback for Antoine Vermette. This deal I proposed has happened more than once. |

That's fine, but as an outside perspective...I am not trading you Poehling for Hayes straight up. |

Oh yeah, I expect somebody with half brain wouldn't do that. I just need Marc Bergevin to be dumb Marc Bergevin for a few minutes. |
