I'm curious to see if Stan moves Saad or keeps him. Chances are his play will improve as he heads to the end of his contract two seasons from now but then what? He might bring something good in return. Not that I want to trade him, keeping him is fine, but sometimes you have to give to get. AA, on the other hand, needs to get moved between now and next season. |

The fact that Saad cannot lock down a Top 6 spot on this awful roster is a big red flag. I think they need to put him with Kane/Strome or Toews/Cat and LEAVE IT ALONE for a week or two. We have all seen #20 be a dominant player, but he has been far from it 95% of the games he's played for Chicago since the re-acquisition. |

yeah, he can be the third best forward on a top six line but when he's expected to play a bigger role, he seems to disappear. |

I can still remember my mother (a nurse) breaking an old thermometer and just casually picking up the mercury and playing with it like they did in her nurses college. This was only 20 years or so ago when I was a kid |

Justin any trade possibilities swirling around the hawks considering were 5 weeks away from the TDL. I m sure hawks scouts and other teams scouts are an about. |

Boston College is 7-10-2 so Wahlstrom has missed 3 games. There was a rumour in the autumn that he wanted out of the program to join the USHJL but as with most rumours nothing happened. As for his point totals there are a few theories, he was overhyped, He hasn't figured out how to take the step up to playing against men or the fact he's on a middling team is impacting his play. Give him a season and see what happens. - paulr
Remember Tkachuk's poor rookie season at BU last yr, drafted top 5 and has stepped into Ottawa's top 6 very nicely. ........... But I was not too impressed with Wahlstrom at this yrs WJC even though he got his points. Still a big fan of this pure goal scorer.

Thanks, jhawk. Appreciate it.
Regarding Krys, he's an example of a prospect that has had to evolve to stay relevant. Before the past few drafts, Krys was arguably the best D prospect in the system. Now with Jokiharju on the Hawks plus Boqvist, Beaudin, and Mitchell poised to round out the "Big 4" if they all hit their potential, not to mention the rise of defensive defensemen in Carlsson and Hillman, Krys stands to be at best 5th on the depth chart and possibly further down at 8th.
As a result, Krys needs to really differentiate himself and stand out in a new way. He's no longer the top offensive D talent in the system but still does bring a decent O package to the rink. When first drafted and even during his freshman year at BU, he wasn't that good without the puck and in his zone in general. He really worked on that last year as a sophomore.
Then after the 1st day of the most recent prospect camp where he was playing too fast and loose, Krys really tightened things up the rest of the week and showed a solid defensive effort. Like Delia but just at a different position, Krys is compact in his skating and puck handling with efficient movement, tight turns, and pretty good edge work.
It may be best for Krys to set himself apart as an unflashy yet reliable 2-way defender who can eat minutes on the 3rd pair. Possibly 25-30 point potential. - AEL_Fox
Well said, sir.......... I'm a fan of Krys. Can't help but love his skating and always has his head up..... Kid has been a blue blood his whole career playing for top programs. NTDP, WJC U-18's and U-20's and now with powerhouse BU while wearing a letter.
I agree with you, I like when he simplifies. I think watching a guy like Joki will really help him. Nothing flashy, steady and wear em down with IQ and playing the right way.
I now they're just names and prospects but a fan has to love how the organIzation has loaded up on the backend. ......... I still hold out for Dennis Gilbert. Love his size and nasty in his game.

Though I don't read as much as you about prospects I do agree
that one man's prospect might not exactly be another's.
I would've put Entwhistle at 6, I think he centers the 3rd line
next year.
What I'd really like is for JC to put the 4th line together as
Perlini/Kampf/Drake and just let them be.
Let Joki play w/Keith and qb the number 1 pp and go from there
I'm a dreamer
- gazza53
Agree with the bolded. Drake seems to show up every games with energy, Kapmf is predictable and Perlini has the game to fill this kind of role and big scorer in jrs with +++ speed, +++ shot with size.
Agree too on Joki QBing the PP but not until they are done showcasing and move Gus.

You might imagine what you could get for Gus and the way he plays up through the trade deadline may make your wish come true.
Take that with a grain of salt.
Because while Gus could play really well and excite another GM over gaining another weapon for their playoffs........
Yet as we know this late bloom dman could also cause nightmares. Therefore I am guardingly optimistic the return could be a second round selection. Which is not really a great haul. But to expect a blue chip prospect is maybe too much to hope for....maybe a fast rising prospect whom was not a really high pick but has progressed nicely.....just not as talented prospect with a big hole in his game...like Edjsell whom pribably nevrt makes it.
Speaking of that pick up from Nashville, he better become extremely lethal with the shot and show more his good vision/passing. It has to be elite since he is not physical and lacks quickness. He gives you nothing when he isn't scoring or looking like a real scoring threat.
Does that sound realistic? On both Gus snd Edjsell? - jhawk59
J, the thing about Gus is he's a Dman and ones that matter are so hard to acquire. The way Gus has probably been the reason they have gone from 30th to 20th in PP ranking has me optimistic the Hawks might get an overpay for him. ......... Need special teams in the playoffs and even if Gus would be a PP specialist he'd be a big piece for a club looking to boost their PP.
I have to say I'm not an Edjsell guy. His skating is Strome like without the hands/vision/IQ.

Safe to say Saad is a case of self motivation? We've all see him be a Man Child and invisible for long stretches. What else can it be?

I'm hoping that's the plan, maybe someone out there want's Gus.
Is it still to early for JC to be getting a good handle on what is
and what should be going forward? So may times it looks like
pure chaos. One or two games trying this trying that needs to
simply stop or am I completely bonkers thinking that |
