I know, you called him a bad actor, so I thought you didn't take it seriously. I guess you did, a little. I just wanted to answer your question, serious or not.
Some don't make it to five, and should. I hear you on your rule, but Got, deserves every season. WD, maybe not. - I Am The Breadman
I'm a big fan of both GOT and WD.
GOT is an exception to the 5 season rule, WD is not. |

Ex-lurker here. 67 yrs old. Saw 1st Hawks game as a kid on 12 inch B/W. Loved my Hawks ever since.
Everybody but Kane up for sale. Need Josh Manson type on blue line.
Like Snaggleooth Caggiula. He's a character guy on a team which currently has little to none.
Demote Saad to 4th line. Have him be responsible for 5-6 hard checks along the boards. If he can't/won't, keep him in town on the next road trip. Averages one assist every 10 games. He doesn't deserve much input at 6M per. A floater. - gabriel
My man!👍. Josh Manson! Bob Murray everybody for sale mode. You’re a long time fan like me ,I love the way daddy played in the 80s, and Josh can play in today’s game and still play just like daddy did.Exactly what the Hawksneed on the blue line. Him and Connor Murphy would be awesome to have. Maybe not together but in the top six. |

Breadman, really enjoy your posts. Also your attempts at conciliation have not gone unnoticed. We are here to have fun, and man, I have learned a lot from our fellow posters. Biggest percentage are good people. Thanks for the invite and keep working the books hard. - gabriel
Well thank you, and I definitely try (on keeping the peace and the schooling).
You're on a good board. There are some cool, intelligent, quick, and funny guys and gals here. Look forward to more conversations and opinions. |

GOT is my favorite show behind WW. I can talk about that nonstop! WD was too much filler and I lost interest. I get there's comics, and catching up, and yards yadda, but they lost this fan. |

Welcome aboard, Gabe! Post more. Really like the memory share. Caggiula earned his keep another season. - I Am The Breadman
Caggiula earned his keep after five games and zero points? Not saying points are everything, but all of these guys need to start showing something. When the Hawks were dominant their depth was very special, hell Eager scored 11 goals playing on the 4th line the first year the Hawks won the Cup in 2009-2010.
No rip to a new poster or you Breadman, I just feel like this organization really has to look to get better in all areas. Outside of Kane, not overly impressed by anybody. If you can upgrade at any position, do so ASAP!! |

I was joking because he fought Lovejoy, and won. I can't red font on my phone.
He looks like a good 4th liner with energy, but definitely needs to contribute. There was discussion yesterday about him and Perlini. I like Caggiula a lot more. |

Fox, glad to visit with you finally!
Hope I didn't come across as everyone needs to be jone-barred into the boards. Ha! But, it does seem to me that opponents are very attitudinal (good for them), upon entering our D zone. There seems to be no retaliatory response from our side. We oft-times can't appear to legally hold them up.
When we do check them, they bounce off our checks like zombies.
I'd love to hear from you or anyone else, the skills that are legally required to 'hold them up." Nice hearing from you. |

Did not see that discussion. Would be nice to start developing a consistent bottom six, but hell we need help everywhere now. This team is 4-5 players away from being competitive again. Not Stanley Cup competitive, but playoff team-competitive IMO. |

Definitely agree that while the Hawks may be hitting more, they're not of the variety you and many others are wanting to see out of this team. Finishing your checks is part of the game, even in college, juniors, and younger ranks. But I get your main point that consistent push back and sticking up for your mates is still lacking.
Not sure what skills are required but I feel it starts with compete level and pride. If a Reaves or Wilson pushes you around, you still fight back no matter the size or strength differential.
Exhibit A: DeBrincat, particularly his fight against Matt Irwin in that Predators game where Keith got tossed after his tango with Salomaki. |

Amen!
Those of us who think spending another $8-10+MM on one guy like Stone or Panarin to maybe get the team to playoff contention just dooms them to drafting more low level talent. Not to mention the additional cap hell that would cause. Anybody like that wants to come to a winner. If all they want is a payday that is an independent reason not to sign them.
Those of us thinking the Sikura's, Haydens and Gustafssons of the world offer much upside are living on a prayer that will never be answered.
Kane truly is the only guy on the roster worth keeping if you look at things objectively. I would have included Crawford but that ship I fear has sailed.
Until you clear the deck of the softies, the guys who don't GAF anymore, the career AHL space takers, and overpays on the downside of their career, no transformational moves can be made.

I agree with most of what you said but would add besides Kane keep Debrincat as well as Murphy who has been very solid. The rest and tank crew led by tank officers and commander Seabrook. We need to he oayient and understand we have several seasons of tanking before this ship gets right.

I don't see it, giving up 8 goals in a game. There is too much leapfrogging required. We're the Chicago Swiss Cheese with all of the holes we got. We're close to play-off contention, a little bit further behind SC champions. |

Yeah, about a season-season and a half after that for me. |

Poor Stan had to work with a "hand tied behind his back" in Q. So lemme ask you, does Q get credit for the "good moves" Bowman made? Oduya? Frolik? Vermette?
With Vermette actually, no, it was Q's handling of the guy that nearly ended up with the Hawks getting dumped out of the playoffs in 2015 -then he worked out the guy was ok, As it was he spent nearly no time at all getting him working within the system during the time leading up to the playoffs- nearly identically to how he handled Weise and Fleischmann (Weise especially) -but the results were different...

WD caught my interest again this past season with the time hop, but is losing it quite quickly again. I am excited for the full length movies about where Rick went to that is supposed to start coming out after this season. Rick Grimes made the show, now that he is not on it, it will probably fade... |

As much I've advocated adding Panarin to the team, Mark Stone might be the better overall fit for this team to actually replace Big Hoss on the team since we already have (whether people will argue or not) two top six forwards in Saad and Cat and Stone plays a more complete game.
Saad-Toews-Stone
Cat-Strome-Kane
That's a very solid top six. Problem is you'd definitely need to pay more to get Stone to sign. What they do from there for the bottom six is the big question mark. - Savetheembers33

This right here outlines why the Hawks won't make the playoffs. The red is where they give up more than league average shots at 5v5. That big red area all around the net is a problem. We can't defend this area well and it results in the goalies giving up goals. |
