If you think about it, there is no one in the league that remotely resembles 81. - nickmo2699
He was a pretty unique player.
While he isn't the same, Mark Stone might be one of the better 2 way wingers in the league right now. I'm not advocating throwing money at him, but he seems to commit to D.
Kyle Connor might be another that would maybe be a similar type, the kid is still developing.
I miss Hossa in terms of just how hard he was to stop. If he wanted to get to the net, he was getting to the net. His leg strength and balance was so good, he just bowled his way while protecting the puck. |

Ex-lurker here. 67 yrs old. Saw 1st Hawks game as a kid on 12 inch B/W. Loved my Hawks ever since.
Everybody but Kane up for sale. Need Josh Manson type on blue line.
Like Snaggleooth Caggiula. He's a character guy on a team which currently has little to none.
Demote Saad to 4th line. Have him be responsible for 5-6 hard checks along the boards. If he can't/won't, keep him in town on the next road trip. Averages one assist every 10 games. He doesn't deserve much input at 6M per. A floater. |

I believe they remade The Magnificent Seven a while back. At least Hollywood hasn't attempted remakes of The Great Escape, Bullitt or The Cincinnati Kid.

Motorcycle drama show, does that sum it up? Never saw it, didn't want to. Hunnam was in a King Arthur movie that I fell asleep through. Looked good, was just tired, haha. - I Am The Breadman

Unless we dress Seabs in his uniform, gunk pads and all........ the falling might give him away.
Congrats on the 100th! |

Welcome to the blog. I remember watching the Hawk road games on the portable TV too. The parents had control of the big TV.
Granted Hawks need a lot of help They have 4 or 5 top 6 players, a bunch of other average/below average forwards filling out the bottom 6, a couple of defenseman past their prime accompanied by a few more that can't play defense.
They need a couple of top 6 wings, and at least 2 skilled bottom 6 players. There's help in the pipeline for defense, but still a couple of years off.

It happened. It's good. They did good with the cast. Original is still far superior. Goes without saying. |

South Park Harley Davidson episode.......
No, it never piqued my interest. It's just a drama show centered around bikers. Plenty of my family rides motorcycles, I've been on the bikes. |

A show called Archer had an episode pay homage to Bullitt. Jay Leno also got to ride in the car on his Garage show. If that movie was remade, I might brutally injure it's director. |

Interesting to see Sikura still regarded highly among some even with the breakout of Kurashev and Barratt. Little surprised to see Wise ahead of Barratt and Entwhistle with how he struggled and go hurt this year. Same goes for Perlini. As much as I like him as solid enough bottom six forward I don't think he should be rated higher than some of the prospects but that's my opinion |

Just busting your chops.
I enjoyed it, but I binged watched it with a buddy so that probably made it better than it was. I can see how some people may not like it. The show lasted 7 seasons but the last 2 were painful.
Because of Sons I developed my 5 season rule. The max a show should go is 5 seasons, regardless of how good it is. |

Thanks Boilermaker. Shouldn't you be here in Purdue country? Parent's grabbed the good set. That made me laugh. Times are a little different today, eh?
I just can't comprehend the lack of hitting along the boards. No excuse for it. The soft-hitting team we have, doubles as garden gnomes. Pitiful sweep checks generally.
I know the game has evolved, but good teams still plant guys. Why don't we? A Q hangover? |

As much I've advocated adding Panarin to the team, Mark Stone might be the better overall fit for this team to actually replace Big Hoss on the team since we already have (whether people will argue or not) two top six forwards in Saad and Cat and Stone plays a more complete game.
Saad-Toews-Stone
Cat-Strome-Kane
That's a very solid top six. Problem is you'd definitely need to pay more to get Stone to sign. What they do from there for the bottom six is the big question mark.
Make no mistake this team is SORELY missing Hoss and Hammer from this team and have not found adequate replacements for them or better depth overall to make up for the loss of them. |

But - winning doesn't sell everything - and, by itself, it doesn't sell enough.
Marketing is needed to provide revenue streams that the on-ice product can't find by itself - corporate support, sponsored games, giveaways (paid for by sponsors), promoting the merchandise, TV shows beyond the games....
Revenues that can keep flowing when the winning stops for a period of time - as it does for all teams, especially in a hard-cap league.
All that said - marketing should have very little input (some small amount) into on-ice operations - but don't negate the value of the marketing department to the business success of a sports franchise. - StLBravesFan
My point was that the hockey side should not be compromised by marketing. I mean, do you actually believe that the great marketing is what's putting people in the seats now? iI have heard plenty of accounts from people who attend games of "a lot of empty seats". I've an acquaintance who has 4 100 level seats. Typically sells off 2 of them over the last 10 years on a per game basis. Right now he's having a very difficult time moving them, regardless of price. Typically he's losing money on them in a big way. The marketing is still in place, but the product is failing miserably. At least compared to years past. |

I know, you called him a bad actor, so I thought you didn't take it seriously. I guess you did, a little. I just wanted to answer your question, serious or not.
Some don't make it to five, and should. I hear you on your rule, but Got, deserves every season. WD, maybe not. |

Welcome aboard, Gabriel!
On the bolded part, I don't think it's a Q hangover. I could be wrong but I believe the team is delivering more hits under Colliton than Q. Those hits, though, may be more of the textbook body check to separate a player from puck rather than a bone jarring hit to antagonize the opponent, turn the tide in a game, or deliver payback for an earlier transgression. |
