Yeah, remember those classic games Bolland played against Vancouver? - boilermaker100
I was just watching clips of that. He just tormented those two. The hit on Hamhuis that leads to the Bickell goal in 2011 was unreal!

Flyers put Dale Weise on waivers. Maybe the Hawks pick him up since Colliton might play him while Q didn't. - boilermaker100
Stay away from Weise as he still has another year remaining on his contract; however, this type of deal is what we should be considering at the TDL. Teams looking to dump bad expiring contracts to gain Cap space for additions need to be taken advantage of. The Hawks will have a lot of space to do what others have been doing to us to gain future assets. |

As much as Gus needs to sit a game, as already suggested, they probably keep trotting him out because another team might need someone to man the point on the power play. It's why they might play Kunitz and Ward more often than they should, also. After last night's clunker, Ward might need a decent outing to even have a chance at being dealt to a contender in need of a backup, and one where he wouldn't waive. At this point, the goal is to trade assets that are not going to be part of the long term here. And that means we are going to see some lineups that would ordinarily cause us to scratch our heads and wonder WTF. - 333inthe3rd
I'm guilty of it as much as anyone, but we really need to get our heads around the idea that (at least until the trade deadline) the Hawks are going to trot out some very questionable lineups. There are likely going to be on-ice decisions that make no sense when looking at icing a competitive team. |

Last night was on JC.
You bring in a new defender and play 7 defenders. Every few shifts you see different D pairings. The extra defender makes you juggle the lines every few shifts also. A recipe for disaster.
Q sometimes skated 7 defenders too. But rarely with positive results. When he did sometimes he had a defender playing a wing. JC might have missed an opportunity to play Gus on a wing.
This looked a lot like that last couple months of last season. No structure on O or on D. Poor goaltending. A total mess.
Maybe this was intentional. The start of the tank.
Current standings (the only one that matters to the Hawks now)
Kings 46 games played 39 points
Sens 46 games played 39 points
Flyers 46 games played 40 points
Hawks 48 games played 41 points
Wings 47 games played 41 points
Considering the games played the Hawks probably have the worst record in the NHL. If they are able to dump AA and Kruger at the TDL, we should be a lock.

BREAKING from EK:
Flyers put Dale Weise on waivers...
This is interesting on some levels...word is the Flyers are working VERY hard to add a player or two as they remain more of a buyer than a seller...and I know a few of you out there aren't really in favor of the Flyers as buyers concept. - glennjpawlak22

They put him on waivers because Q is going to coach Philly and he did not want Weise on their roster when he took over. (Sarcasm) - -Doh-
I read on another blog that the Hawks told Q not to accept any coaching jobs because they want to name him GM after they fire Stan after this season. Really, I am not making this up.
Be funny if it does happen just to hear from Oldduffman.

Time to embrace the tank and rebuild.
Too many holes to fill.
At least two pieces of the core has to go. New core is needed.
Keep Kane - based on salary the rest is expendable.
Just getting Jack Hughes will not make thsi team a playoff team.
Just that tells you how much tweaking is required. |

anyone remember where Hawks rolled 7 D and after the game, the coach was applauded? - glennjpawlak22
They should start 2 goalies in addition to the 7 D.
Perhaps they'll only give up 7 goals.
Try Gus at wing and keep him on the point for the plumbers 911 power play.
I know Kane glides and doesn't always play D, but did he actually play 28 minutes last night? Why??? How many of those where in the 3rd period in a lost cause of a game? I think Colliton has Kane on his fantasy team too. |

Great hitQ
My favorite, a shortie against the Canucks.

1. Man did he smoke Hamhuis and in the net a second later.
2. When was the last time you saw a Hawk press someone on the blue line like that when shorthanded. |

Crazy thing is, that bonehead play by Erat in the Nashville series that led to the Kane tying goal, if that never happened we may have seen the best team to ever exit in the first round. But........ because Trashville lol |

We're all hoping for a return to the good old glory days, whatever it takes.
No problem agreeing to disagree on various topics. That's what the blog is here for.
We can't change what happened in the past. It's over and done. We can only look forward and go from here.

Agreed. Also see if someone will take on Saad for an expiring UFA they know they cant re-sign. Not a Saad hater, just hate his cap hit for what he brings sans Hossa. |

Charlie Hunnam (sons of anarchy?) Rami Malek (the new Queen movie) Eve Hewson (Bono's daughter, The Knick).
Hunnam is McQueen's character and Malek is Hoffman's character. |

The Hawks haven't been the same since Hossa left. Yes, he did bring out the best in Saad and Toews. Its been said before, but those two owe Hoss part of their big salaries. |
