I don't think there's enough "slow laugh" gifs to fill this post regarding a Phil/Slif swap. Maybe if ANA were adding a 1st or maybe making the deal a little bigger to bring back Manson or Montour, but no friggin way.
I like Silfverberg, but moving a pending UFA who's never sniffed 30 goals or even hit 50 point for a cost-controlled player who put up 92 points last year, 70 the year before and is on pace for 90+ points again?
This is one the of the nuttiest things I've read. Rust for Silfverberg makes a ton more sense than this deal. |

Weber and Price's deals are horrible. - RogerRoeper
Price's deal is an anchor... lots of stipulations in the Weber deal that makes it alright, very easy to get rid of in the last 4 seasons if his play was to drop off drastically! He'll be traded before it gets to that anyway! |

What about Steve-Y? He didn't prove his worth in Tampa? People say he's tied to the Detroit job but buddy - you would have a lot of the hard work done YEARS in advance in Philly. Hexy didn't do THAT bad of a job. Tons of cap space. Lots of young players already up.
I still like the idea of Pronger back in the Flyers org. If Provo and Ghost need anything - they need a little of 20 in them (that didn't come across right)... But you know what I mean.
I wouldn't mind seeing Coach Q signed no matter who the GM is. The GM moves are great but this team proved last night with some half-way decent goaltending and a PK that isn't 30 of 31 in the league that they can beat Cindy and the boys in Pitt. I am not planning a parade route yet but it was nice to see. |

Me too.
Have you been to the place Johnathan Gold loved in the OC? I know VEGANS who go there (I would never be vegan) as its THAT GOOD. I haven't been as I wont even drive to Kings games and Staples is 11 miles away (meaning 1:20 in rush out on the 10 east)....

Matthews puck control is unlike anyone I’ve ever seen.
The way the puck can slip off of his stick and he can immediately regain control, through another defender is incredible.
Along the boards, out of the air, it’s like it’s glued to his stick |

The skillset that Matthews may be the best ever... is the release on his wrist shot. I couldn' think of anyone I have seen shoot like that. Laine Ovechkin seem to fire more powerful slapshots.
Maybe Brett Hull or Mike Bossy? |

I'm a huge fan of Matthews. LOVE watching that kid play even more than McDavid. |

Yes the leafs management team is brilliant. They signed nylander so they can lose mathews or marner. Dubas an company know exactly what they are doing. Tons of options. Hortons ltir...marleaus cap hit 6mill but actual money due 1 mil. Cap will go up. Im sure the gms in the league have an idea of how much....trade kadri 4.5 mill...they will make it work. And hopefully bot some of the above. But they have options. Marner is already thinking about the merits of a bridge deal although not ideal that could buy some more time. |

The Matthews Skill breakdown:
To consider him the BEST EVER to play the game in the specific area is always going to be up for debate. To give it credence, I will assume it's something that has come to light more in recent years than back in the glory days. He gets hurt, he comes back, he doesn't appear to miss a beat. He addresses the media effectively without giving up too much info. But based on current events, my guess is going to be more Nylander-related.
Ek, I believe you think Matthews ability to play alongside any given linemate(s) and not only be successful himself, but have the others contribute above their normal rate of play as well... that is where Matthews could be considered the "BEST EVER".
Lots of one-man shows have come and gone. Some superstars are difficult to find linemates for (see: Crosby, McDavid). But Matthews turned Nylander into a (nearly) 7-million dollar man, and had Nylander held out for the season... Kasperi Kapanen was going to get paid handsomely for becoming an offensive Juggernaut seemingly out of nowhere. Whoever has been put on his wings, thrives.
If I'm right, I don't want anything Matthews related. I want to write a blog with and edge once a month, on any given "flavour of the month" in the hockey world of my choosing. Guaranteed to spark the comments section. And if I'm wrong, well there's a first time for everything... |

naw, Marner is better in that area, and I don't think anyone had the vision Gretzky had. |

At a certain point, the Predators have to make a trade to get Weber back. They can't afford to let him retire.
Although I wouldn't be surprised to see the NHL let them off the hook - Nashville didn't write that contract, and the NHL changed the rules after it was signed. |

You mentioned a while ago that Matthews is better than McDavid at elevating the players around him; so that is my guess. |
