I dont think hextall was fired for his plan. I think hextall was fired because his plan had no flexibilty it seemed to address current team issues. As well thought out the long term plan was, he seemed reactionary to the current team. Just my thought.

Rumors are Lindblom again on the fourth?
That’s some good D-velopmemt. Good thing that mean man Hextall isn’t holding Dave back anymore. - flyer_nutter
Laine was on the fourth line earlier this year. He still managed to score a poopton of goals and then got moved back up. As long as he's playing ahead of Lehtera then I'm okay |

Are you really trying to compare an elite goal scorer scoring goals on the fourth line to lindblom on the fourth??? |

Laine played on the 4th line....one game he played 11:24 and another game 14:44 TOI, every other game he has played 15+ minutes.
How much does Lindblom play? |

I don't think anyone can question the good Hextall did, but you can't praise someone for only 2/3 of the job. That doesn't even mean he had to win a cup to get praised. He got the team back to ground zero fixing the cap and filling the prospect pool. Let's be honest is that really that tough to do? He did great unloading some bad contracts prior to his time, but then he just sat back didn't make too many bad signings, didn't trade any picks and drafted players that have yet to make any major impact for the team.
Did he build any kind of consistent competitive team during that time? To me that is what every GM wants to do, but only the great ones find a way. - Glak18
How do we know that Hextall wouldn't have done that. He had the rug pulled out from under him by management. Ah alluded to in his press conference, the rebuild in LA took 6 years and 7 in Chicago.
How many teams have a young player and prospect base equal to the Flyers? Hextall's plan was to have the major impact to the team come from drafting and developing players. Not by trading and UFA signings.

If you have the flawed belief that young players should get heavy ice time no matter what, I guess it's not good development. If you have the belief that all good coaches have that young player need to continually earn ice time, have to be taught that they have to play consistently to earn that ice time and taught lessons along the way on how to be a pro, then it's very good player development.

The men behind the bench that you defend, played a huge role in costing the job of the GM you wish was still here (as do I quite honestly).

Only thing consistent with the Flyers...every coach MJL stands behind it's because of the players, many many different players. |

Just ideas. Will never happen. Rosy cheeks is here for a long time. I’m cool with that. Like him.
Once he figures it out a bit more and is able to unleash that shot - look out. He reminds me a bit of Scheifele to be honest. |

👍
Like him as GM a lot more than Fletcher. Also like Hunter, even though his brother is a Turd. |

That's where I see his ceiling at. I also see a lot of coots in him but defensively he's not where coots was at his age |

Yeaaaa me tooo but I just have a feeling they go for someone who already has experience as a GM. So I think that's why it's Fletcher's job to lose |

If that was true, the man behind the bench that you vilify, would've been fired also. |
