Bill,
What do you think will happen with Nylander? If he's traded, what do you think Toronto could get for him from the Flyers? |

Weise
Raffl
Weal
Laughton
Lindblom
MacDonald
Gudas
Hagg
Folin
Neuvirth
Elliott

I suspect that Michael Nylander (his son's agent) is the source of the rumor. Agents often are the "source close to the situation." Homer has been a bit busy this week to talk trade with any team and, besides, the goalie situation is the more immediate priority (one would think). |

- Elliott for Schneider with NJ retaining a million in salary. There’s still some good hockey in Schneider yet.
- Voracek for Tarasenko with us retaining 750K in salary.
- Patrick & Devils 2nd for Duchene if he’ll sign a five year 7/per extension.
- Simmonds to Buffalo for picks, they’re a playoff team and need some grit.

Thankfully time for some hockey again.
I like the line changes. Glad Stolarz is getting another start. |

Wait I get crucified for a realistic trade giving up very little and this...
1) Schneider hasn't played any good hockey in 3 years and that changes coming to the Flyers? That doesn't even touch on his injury issues that have been worse than Elliott.
2) Why would St. Louis trade Tarasenko for Voracek?
3) That's super value for Ottawa for a player they may not be able to sign, I won't even talk about why the Flyers wouldn't just sign him in the offseason then.
4) If Homer is going to go all out why would he all of sudden trade Simmonds for future assets? Did he wake up and decide to do the complete opposite the next day?
Might as well add Giroux and a 5th for McDavid too. |

Schneider hasn't played good hockey since his surgery. That's a huge red flag. Zero interest from me there.
I don't think you're getting Tarasenko for Jake straight up. And on top of that I don't think he'd be the player the Blues would look to be moving anyway.
Trading Patrick would be a mistake imo. Wait til the summer for Duchene then make him an offer.
Simmonds for picks or prospects seems like a foregone conclusion at this point. |

Good grief thank god your not the GM. Schneider has had injury problems and isn't any kind of a upgrade.
Patrick is 20 years old why would you trade him for Duchene? That's crazy talk Duchene is what 27-28 years old. No thanks.
The flyers need roster players especially if they trade Simmonds. I'd go for a younger player possibly a goalie or third line center and a pick.
You would have to retain salary trading Jake for Tarasenko plus prolly cost you more. Plus why would the Blues trade for a older one way player?

So, the Phantoms are killing penalties at a 85.8% rate?? Hmm, you would think adding whomever is overseeing the PK for the Phantoms to the Flyers to do the same might be a good idea.

No, our AHL players just execute, while out NHL vets haven't been able to for 4 years going. |

Wild rumored to be shopping Coyle. Seems like he could be a fit at 3c though I haven't seen him play in a while. Contract expires after next year and cap hit is modest.
The other options I saw looking at struggling teams. What would it take to get toffoli and muzzin ? Both have modest contracts ending after next year and are young enough to be contributors for a while. |

Avs are scary this year plus they have a couple 1st next year, salary cap is the only thing that would slow them down.
Before They traded Dushene they were calling for joes head. |

I think there was some sarcasm in my post at Homer making poop happen, I think he'll find it's just not as easy as it used to be to make trades in today's NHL.
Thankfully there's a game today so we can talk about that! |

It's not the system...the Phantom players are better at executing.

For all the talk and fretting about the Flyers trading all of their picks and prospects in a desperate attempt to win a playoff round in 2019, here's what I actually think they will do.
First, they will cross their fingers and sacrifice to all the Gods ever known along with the dark lord Cthulu, that Neuvirth can at least stay healthy until Elliott is ready to return. At that point, they will try and move Neuvirth (with 50% retention), a pick (likely no higher than a 3rd) and a lesser prospect (perhaps Vecchione)for an upgrade in goal that they can also use in 19-20. They may also look to acquire a slight upgrade at center as well, if the cost is no more than a 3rd.
Next, once Morin is ready to go, they will move Folin, probably for a 6th or 7th, to a contender looking to add a little D depth at the deadline. They will also move Simmonds near or at the deadline as well. Since odds are that the acquiring team will be a contender, you likely aren't getting a roster player back, but hopefully the return will be a 1st in 2019 and perhaps a 3rd in 2020.
Finally, depending on the standings, they might deal Weal or Raffl (doubt they move both, you still need some bodies) at the deadline, and, if they can find a taker, they'll move AMac for a mid round pick with some money retained. If AMac is dealt, Myers will likely get called up for a look during the last quarter of the season.
Any other significant moves will be made after the season. |

Coyle is solid and can also play on the wing if needed to slide over next year. Depending on the cost, I'd have interest.

Those would be a series of patient, prudent moves.
Didn't patience and prudence just get kicked out of the building?
