The team last season increased their point total by 10 points and finished 3rd in the Metro division. I think they bailed too soon. - MJL
That same point could be used as a reason against Hextall. They made that improvement despite glaring weaknesses which he was unable to improve in the off season. |

I think we have to look on why they didn't improve from last season to this point. In my opinion some of that can be placed on Hextall but most of it is are things beyond his control and unforeseen.

Yup, can’t fault him on that last goal. Phantoms with a giveaway in the D zone and he gets beat by a point blank shot |

Excellent effort all around by the Phantoms tonight. 3rd straight road game in 3 nights and they out skated and out worked Toronto most of the night. When they did make mistakes, Carter Hart, who was a beast tonight, bailed them out. Myers, NAK, and Vorobyev all had strong games as well. |

I don't think this situation is as black and white as some people, including you, make out. Homer hired Hextall, knowing his plan, and gave it 5 years. This really isn't old guard vs. new guard. That's too simple. I don't think Hextall's plan of managing the cap, or being patient, or some other hockey related stuff was really the issue. - feelingkettle
So you think that somehow when y0ou have a building full of old guys hired by Clarke and Homer, who are used to things being done one way, which is failing, you think that when a new guy is doing things a different way, which is working, and in the process changing things the old losers are used to, that they take for granted, everything is just status quo?
If Comcast wanted the team to succeed, they should have also relieved Holmgren and Clarke of their duties. There is nothing to suggest that they have a better idea how to run a hockey team than Hextall does. |

Obviously the winning and business was not working out under Hextall either. Assuming everyone who comes out with some info has an ulterior motive goes a little beyond skepticism for me. I would be with you on that if it happened every time someone got fired in the Flyers' org, but this seems to be a rare occasion.
And again, if it wasn't for Bill, Jay and Ant San coming out with things along the same lines, I wouldn't really pay attention to any of the other stuff.
This was a strange situation, and I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to be informed as a fan on what happened. I would much rather try to figure out what happened through reputable sources than just spew bullpoop on here, whether it's anti-Homer or anti-Hextall. - feelingkettle
If the team had a long run of success under Homer as GM, this would be a narrative with traction. But ..... |

Also, I found the root of Ghost's issues last night. It's pretty simple
- Giroux_Is_God
Ha!
When I saw this pic, I thought "Well, I really suck out loud! Maybe if I borrow someone else's stick, I will stop turning the puck over every shift." I mean, some of Laughton's shots actually hit the net.
Now he needs to trade skates with someone.

Myers and Hart just need some more seasoning. We will see them wearing the P very soon.
Vorobyov is very talented and could have been the 3C this season, but he has to decide he wants to be a pro enough to show up every night. That has been the summary of every scouting report on him since he was a teenager. When he plays hard, he is too good for the AHL. |

Being able to buy a winning team because you can outspend literally everyone isn't the same thing as being a good hockey exec. The other team that bought championships was the Red Wings. Where have they been lately? |

Just re-watched that. I don't see that there. He had to stop first. He had no chance to get to that puck before the Pens player. - MJL
Of course you didn't see it.
You are truly the type of person that if someone was pulling the nails out of Jesus's hands you would say
A. your doing it too fast or
B your doing it too slow. You see then deny seeing what happen.
Jake misses. stops with both skates below blue line and stick in right hand.
Puck is sitting right on red line split second free at bottom of circle.
#58 has not arrived yet on puck.
He could have at least made one stride to try to get his stick at the minimum on the other guys stick or again (frank)ing just tried.
But I know, no facts and a false narrative blah blah blah.

Ridiculous. I've criticized Voracek on numerous occasions when I thought it was warranted. It's physics. A player can't come to a hockey stop, pivot and get to speed immediately. The only thing he could do there was reach for it.

Really so your saying he could not have taken a stride/effort because of physics...Laughable! You're awesome my friend!
