So basically you are just guessing that's what happened here?

The guy went from covering the team and having access to basically only a blog now.

My point being that all these pieces are very anti Hextall, and pro Flyers. I’m a bi skeptical I guess.

Like I said, I remember the board was visible in a video. I'm just asking for something that connects that and his firing.
- feelingkettle

Wasn’t he the one to release the video?

I don't really fault any journalist for where they choose to write/get paid. With all the poop going on with newspapers now, it can't be easy being even a good one.

Pretty solid win, always nice to beat the Penguins in Pit

Gudas wiping Gudas twice had me pretty pumped, won't lie. He's continuing a quietly solid season, and Sanheim continues his solid play in limited minutes.

Speaking of minutes, I loved watching Weise matched up against the Malkin line 3 times in the final 5 minutes. What could possibly go wrong!?

Ghost and Provy struggled a little bit in their first game with the band being back together. Push through. Roll them out there.

Amac started so well, then well....was Amac. Shocking, I know.

Luckily we didn't have to watch the PP for 3 games. Unfortunately, all good things must pass. On a positive note, more PK success. Baby steps. I'm seeing more flashes of aggressiveness. Again, baby steps.

Stolarz was a difference maker, as was Konecny.

Fire Dong Hyukstore. Fire Slappy.

Nothing went wrong. Weise belongs out there in that situation.

Amac started and finished well with a +3 game.
Solid outing for him.

Have to be really careful about what it written. Just can't ignore that some have an ulterior motive and grudges to burn. This was about winning and business. All the other stuff is nonsense.

Obviously the winning and business was not working out under Hextall either. Assuming everyone who comes out with some info has an ulterior motive goes a little beyond skepticism for me. I would be with you on that if it happened every time someone got fired in the Flyers' org, but this seems to be a rare occasion.

And again, if it wasn't for Bill, Jay and Ant San coming out with things along the same lines, I wouldn't really pay attention to any of the other stuff.

This was a strange situation, and I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to be informed as a fan on what happened. I would much rather try to figure out what happened through reputable sources than just spew bullpoop on here, whether it's anti-Homer or anti-Hextall.

Lost in the shuffle of thinking about forwards:

MacDonald +3
Gostisbehere -2 (and looking worse than that)

For all of the talk about reuniting Ghost-Provy, Provy spent almost 1/2 of his 5v5 time with Gudas and Hagg, and he seemed a lot more sure of himself playing with those partners. Not a shock.

Hopefully Hak noticed how much better he played.

If you're talking about just the Pens game, that's not correct.

People use media to get an agenda out. That's just a fact. If the team was winning, we wouldn't be hearing anything about it. Hextall has been the GM for how long. We're just hearing about it now? Who did the reporters get this info from? Stuff like this doesn't leak out for no reason.

It's pretty simple to know what happened just listening to the Holmgren/Scott press conference.

I guess I just trust people who are around the team more than random people on a message board. I also don't put a lot of stock into the press conferences, as those are more a formality, and each have to word their answers carefully due to a lot of reasons.

Regarding stuff not coming out earlier, it's well known that Hextall stamped out any leaks from the team, including trade rumors and anything else. Any time that iron curtain is lifted due to strange circumstances, it's natural for people to want to put a little something out there.

Also, I don't get why reporters have to be used as sources to tell us anything. Some of them are around the team a ton and I'm sure are confided in off the record all the time.

I think everyone should be careful about brushing information aside that doesn't fit their agenda. These aren't random people coming out and saying poop, it's respected journalists and a former coach/player who probably talks to people in the org frequently.

I'll just say this...those people know a lot more about the team than any of us.

Hextall doesn't have any control over what journalists write. It seems to me that some of the stuff being written about isn't something that is just being learned. I can understand someone like Bill Meltzer who works for the team not divulging stuff like this but reporters such as SanFillipo don't have any ties to the team.
I don't know if you read the article he wrote but there is a lot missing from that article. I think everyone should be careful about accepting information just because someone writes it in an article.
If Hextall was so guarded about leaks and kept this so called tight and small inner circle, where did the reporters get the information from? If it's true, I doubt they got it from sources loyal to Hextall. So where did they get it?

Seems to me that there is a well orchestrated PR campaign using the media going on.

I dont think Bill or even Jay are the type of media that would spread a biased message without there being some merit to it.

This one falls under where theres smoke there is fire for me. I think it came from his burning desire to win but a lot of what's been speculated sounds toxic.

Even before this all came out I saw justification for the firing but didnt 100% agree with it. The more I read, the more it seems like the right move.

Reporters can get information from non hockey people who work at the arena, players, non player hockey staff, etc. I don't really get that there's only two sides to this that people keep believing, that there's only anti-Hextall or pro-Hextall. If this stuff that was coming out was being pushed back on by some, then I would call into question what has already been posted. That hasn't happened yet. People can be for the truth, and not anti or pro hextall.

Journalists also don't share off the record stuff unless their sources allow them to. Kinda makes sense not to leak on your boss while he's still your boss.

Also, they don't have to be working directly with the team now to get info. Journalists in all areas of society keep sources and contacts even if they are not seeing them face to face. That info doesn't to be shared with them after the fact. It can be an ongoing thing.

Anyway, you'll just have to excuse me if I put more value on info coming from people associated with the team for years than you or anyone else on here. Until we get pushback or conflicting info from someone else besides Hextall himself, I'm more inclined to believe what we've heard so far.

I don't think there is any secret axe to grind with reporters against Hextall. The issue is sooooo many of the guys that cover the team are on the Comcast payroll one way or another that you're just not going to get corroboration from many people.

I think Homer is handling this the right way and getting a lot of unwarranted poop. He's got more front office experience than anyone involved with the team and could've easily inserted himself or a Flyers strawman in the GM role. He hasn't.

Even the poop he's getting for being a bad GM is over the top. He took a roster worse than this and got them to the Stanley Cup Final in mininal time. Not his fault his number one D man sustained a career ending injury and his owner demanded we give the moon to a goalie.
