this would be better if you guys would be creative and not just point out two young forwards who are being brought along slowly

Except that there's no reason to bring Svechnikov along slowly. The kid is an absolute beast and he's being held back by limited minutes on a team that has difficulty scoring.

It's ludicrous that Brock McGinn plays more than Svech does.

Ilya Kovalchuk. He leads the Kings in scoring and is getting 6 minutes per game and almost zero power play time, while getting paid $6¼ million per season.

Except he has a full NMC. If he does get traded, he's essentially going to pick his desired destination and the Kings won't get much in return.

He's almost 36 years old, playing on the 4th line of a last place team and costs $6+ million.

You weren't getting much for him anyway, even if he CAN still play.

I know this is cliché, but is Edmonton still the place where people’s careers go to die?!..

Ah.

And yes, he is.

I had some hope that maybe he'd turn it around as the Head Coach, but truth is I wanted Brind'amour fired back when he was still the assistant coach.

I called for Brindy to be fired a full year before Peters, in fact.

I'd say Nate Brosser, he controls the play 80% of the game when he's on the ice.

He did it for 3 mins 1 game, no reason he can't do it with 1st line mins.

Matthieu Perreault.

Paul Maurice basically just uses him to kickstart anyone who happens to go on a scoring drought. His minutes are entirely dependent on other players slumping, and needing some French Jesus miracles, and so he bounces around all over.

Pierre Luc Dubois - Drafted 3rd overall in 2016 and sent back to the QMJHL despite being physically ready at 6'3", 210 lbs. After not getting a sniff at the NHL, he dominated the Q, and was promoted to 3rd/4th line with the jackets where he put up 48 points on a minimalist roll. Now, 25 points in 26 games and he finally cracked the top 6, and PP. The kid is quality and has been vastly underused.

Honerable mention: Laurent Brossoit, Andreas Johnsson, Jakub Vrana
