Hossa yep. There are more but I don't want to go team by team player by player year by year.
Seriously though, (frank)ing Willie with Kovalchuk. The guy had 13 points in 15 games. Willie becomes coach, almost immediately demotes him to the 4th line, gives him basically no PP time and now has 1 point in 8 games or whatever it is since WD is coach.
There is no one better at self sabotaging his roster than Willie. - Lindenis#1
I like how you summed him up |

Gagner has been fine?!?! The dude has played half this season for the Marlies?!?! - Codes1087
Sure, because management felt like they needed Leipsic and Schaller to prove they're not NHLers by playing on the first line over a guy who proved he could score at this level despite his warts.
Gagner was the third highest scoring returning forward on the team last year. 31 points isn't much to sneeze at and that was with awful deployment.
There's a useful player there for a rebuilding team. |

Its remarkable that he still gets hired.
He didn't have a good roster here, but he also didn't help himself out very much in terms of deployment, adjustments or tactics.
Eriksson was a career garbage man. Only makes sense to try and turn him into Naslund.
Down a goal late. Pull the goalie. Out goes Derek Dorsett and get Edler off the ice so Gudbranson can play the last minute.
Vrbata was successful with the Sedins... how about we use the one dimensional winger on Sutter's line and give him the toughest defensive deployments?! |

The Canucks PK was top 10 without Beagle. I believe it peaked at 6th. Was 11th when Sutter got hurt. Now its 23rd.
he was a factor, sure. But people like to put too much importance on the character guys on teams that win and not like the guys playing 20 minutes a night and scoring. Like David Bolland or Fernando Pisani or Gregory Campbell and so on. - Lindenis#1
Lol you name dropped Fernando Pisani !!! That made my day.... I say post of the day award for you ! |

$$$$ and training camp roster crunches.
Gagner has more points in 4 games than Tim Schaller produced playing with Horvat for about 11 games or whatever it was. Gagner has a goal, something Schaller doesn't have. And Schaller only has 19 shots, somehow, playing first line for a while. He was getting primo minutes on the first line and produced zero.
Schaller can't even PK well, he can't get in on the forecheck and he can't make a play with the puck that doens't involve the glass. Leipsic is a WHLer stuck in NHL limbo. Darren Archibald can't skate and he got a call up just to average 5 minutes a game. Eriksson has 3 assists this year as the #2 TOI winger with Pettersson.
I generally like Green and his deployment but don't pretend it's been perfect and he doesn't have flaws in his judgment. If this team is intent on winning and competing as they say they are then there isn't anyway for them to honestly think leaving Gagner off this roster makes them better when you're looking at the alternatives. |

Right now Gagner is trying to save his career. Back in camp he was coasting on his contract and played like crap. He deserved to go to the minors and everyone in here at the time agreed. It was absolutely the right move and seems to have had the right effect. They should try it with Louie and a few others .... light a fire under their asses! |

Man this team really misses Beagle and Sutter, can't wait for them to both be back.
Another great thing that Benning grabbed Schaller and Roussell as UFA's, when healthy this team will start to show a winning dynamic. |

so just so we can clear this up and can end this topic.
Gagner is good for a rebuilding team, just not THIS rebuilding team, and not good enough for a rebuilding team to take a free claim on him, but good enough for CBJ on a good team on a league minimum 600k "show me" 1 year contract. I am now picking up what you are putting down |

I also thought Perlini had looked good for the yotes. I think Strome has the highest offensive upside out of the 3. I think Arizona wins this trade for today, but CHI is laughing in a year or two. |

Yet he has been way more noticeable in the handful of games he's played verus the entire season that Eriksson has played so far.
The only time I notice Eriksson is when he whiffs on the puck with a wide open net.

I vaguely remember a point in the conversation about Gagner, where I was defending Eriksson or comparing the worth of the two.....
other than the fact that I lumped them both into the group of UFA's who signed multi year deals who are COMPLETE BUMS |
