Despite not winning a world junior gold medal, i thought he was one of canadas best players. Mind you, we had one of those players once and look how he turned out lol. Either way, i think chicago wins in the future, arizona wins now. |

Maybe it will be like a Gillis trade, where somehow both teams end up losing. |

I kind of doubt it. |

The only casualty in this trade is James Tanner
He may actually die after hearing news of this trade.
This guy still thinks he is worthy of his draft position and is a better player than marner. |

He’ll rationalize. By this time tomorrow Strome will be garbage and the trade will be among the most lopsided in NHL history. |

Which is crazy ridiculous. One team that should have a legitimate chance at first pick overall will instead make the playoffs. |

80-84 points could legit be the cutoff for the 3rd spot which would be the lowest total since the full season lockout. Probably goes back even futher.
The goal differential in the division is hilarious.
The Canucks are at -17 which is about 40% of the way to their total last year.
The whole division is at like -92 or something which is apparently pacing for a worse total by average team than some of the worst years when all the old SE division teams were busy being poor and not icing real lineups. |

The division is on pace to be the worst since the 4 division shift.
Courtesy of @dellowhockey
this year's Pacific is closing in on the 2002-03 Southeast Division year in out-of-div goal difference. -0.529 per game v. -0532. Only five other SE Division seasons were worse.
So basically the pacific is scoring 2 goals and giving up 3 to the rest of the league.
The overall goal differential is at -92. 82 points is the pace for the 3rd seed.
7/8 teams probably thought they'd be good this year with only 2 being good and the rest getting caved.
This division is a disaster. Five of the top 8 teams from the conference are in the Central. The 6th central team is Chicago who are on the Canucks level.
Someone on Twitter posted the Pacific record vs the rest of the league. 57-68-10.

I'm sure it will, but it clearly shows the division blows at the moment.
Calgary and San Jose are the only positive teams so far with the Knights being average. The rest of the division is getting the boots put to them.
The PP/PK percentages are all bad compared to the rest of the league.
If I can recall, this morning the regulation win percentage for the division was down around .420 |

6 of the divisions teams are in the bottom half for GF. 5 of them are in the bottom half for GA. 6 teams in the bottom half of points%. 5 in the bottom half of shots/game.
The Flames are the only team with a positive goals for percentage (EN excluded). |

Yup...but two weeks ago this team was the talk of the league for its great start. Had everyone talking about a possible playoff spot and should we add some players. Every year teams and divisions surprise... good And bad. It's a long season for two very good reasons , money obviously is number one and two would be in my opinion to obviously weed out the pretenders from contenders. poop changes on a dime in this game, a key injury here ... a softer schedule there. Hot teams cold teams tired teams and rested teams. List goes on and on. 25 games in to me... is far too early to be predicting an entire divisions final standings. |

Who? Who looked at a team getting caved and was like "time to buy for a playoff run"?
Imac doesn't count. He thought the rebuild was over in December 2016.
I saw people saying "Hey, maybe we Cinderella our way into the playoffs" but no one thought this team was Actually Good. |

I still remember his "rebuild is over!" article.
Horvat 1c, wingers you have Baertschi, Granlund and Boeser. Defence? Hutton, Juolevi, Stecher and Gudbranson!
That was a pre-Goldobin, pre-Dahlen, pre-Pettersson, pre-Hughes, pre-Woo, a pre-Gaudette might be something team.
Even with those players the team still needs a strong draft or 2 because they only have the bones of a defence and about 1.5 wingers of note in the pipeline.
A top heavy team with deficiency at wing, chasm on RD and questions in net is a recipe for the Oilers. Not if you want to compete with the Jets, Avs, Preds, etc. or want to compete with teams like Tampa or Toronto out east. |
