Not really. No Bobby Holik's are making 8 million a year of 2002 bucks. No players are getting 20+ million of 1996 dollars in a single season (Sakic, Federov). No teams have 8 million 2002 dollar players on their third line because their top two lines are full of players making more (cough Colorado cough Detroit). 40-50 point players still get 6 million, but 6 million now isn't as much as it was in 1999. Players aren't getting pieces of franchise value, concession sales, bigger merch cuts, crazy bonuses based on team performance/attendance/individual stats.

Salaries are pretty regulated and standard now compared to how players/teams used to be able to write anything they wanted into their contracts and the 10 rich teams would pay it. One player on the Flyers, allegedly, got the Flyers to fund the start up of his off ice business (I forget who but it was post Lindros and the Google machine won't show me any article before 2014 and I'm not going into page 18 of results).

Average salary in the league has rose at about the rate of inflation ever since the millennia-ish.

I'm pretty sure he should self-impose a one week ban for posting such garbage.

Hextall is an greater embarrassment to that franchise than Gritty is.

If it was any other team, I would probably predict a closer game, but LA is so slow/bad that I think Canucks will take this one 4-3.

if you read the conversation last night, you would know that I am a cynical arm-chair GM that does nothing but use false narratives to my statements on how the team sucks, Benning sucks, and that we have more fringe NHL players on our team than any other team in the league.

however, I won't retract my statements on Goldobin, I think he is a lot better than what give people in here give him credit for. The team sucks, but I don't believe he does.
