Some sort of Oilers thing on Fuhr Sportsnet Pacific

That's when hockey was fun! All offense. (frank) the defense. Tons of goals and fights.

Funny fact - Fuhr's total career earnings $14M

I'll just talk to myself...

Grant Fuhr - 5 Stanley Cups, 10 years, $14M

Alex Burrows - 1 big goal, 14 years, $33M

Pretty sure Fuhr’s $14M in the eighties in Edmonton went a lot farther than Burrows’ $33M in the 2000s in Vancouver.

Plus, Fuhr didn’t even bite anyone. That’s at least $2M/Jon Voight indentation.

Canucks were interested in Hextall before they hired Benning....

Jon Voight indentation.

I'm just saying that the discrepancy in payout before 2000 and after 2000 is staggering.

The big salary boom was the mid90s when the Rangers, Wings, Avs, Stars, Leafs and a few others started spending like crazy because they went "oh poop, we can just buy a team...?"

There was a salary info chart I saw a while ago and the spike for high end began around... 94 or 95? Guys went from like 1 mil being the biggest in the league to guys getting above 8 a year at the top and stuff kept getting higher and higher until Bettman Lockout 2 cut everything back, and now the high end contracts have met that again once you factor in inflation again.

Strome can't skate at an NHL level and unless you're Joe Thornton that's a big hurdle.

None of the Strome boys are good skaters. Ryan skates in molasses, Dylan has concrete feet and the youngest brother has a ton of scoring talent in junior, but his wheels likely aren't ever going to make him an NHLer.

- Lindenis#1

Sooner ppl understand that the sooner they will see Bowman is in panic mode. Tallon drafted his team & he’s riding the wave. Well the tide is out & he is high & dry. 😂

It’s an interesting trade for sure, I wish more trades like this were made around the league but obviously the cap and contract limits make things difficult. Combined with the fact that some GM’s are reluctant to “lose” a trade like that.
- Nucker101

GM’s who hamstring themselves with contracts are their own worst enemy. If those knot heads don’t get more restrictions placed on them they will always be those types of idiots with a job. Throwing a teams contract structure outta whack is high risk & a fireable offense IMO when it backfires. Holmgren made a mess of Philly then cans Hextall who unburied their cap problems. How ironic 😂😂

I'm probably more bullish on him than others, but I think if he'd been used in a less frustrating way last year and more to his strengths people would be more positive about him.

I had PTSD when he got called up that he'd be in the OV spot for some reason. But hey, he's been used in the bumper spot and looked good. At 5v5 he'll give you some headaches, but when you're looking at your other options (Granlund, Schaller, Leipsic, Motte) in those offensive roles I'd rather have the guy who had 31 points last year.

He's made more dangerous passes and plays in 4 games than Schaller made all season. Leipsic is like Biega in that he has a strong game or 2 and then he's tripping over himself after. Granlund and Motte are okay in spot duty, but you'd rather have them down your lineup than playing up it.

- Lindenis#1

Good points👍

When Jb tinkers with signings its up to TG to find out who plays well & for how long then deploy line-ups to suit. Our problem is too many injuries & the depth dries up. When we are healthy then TG has options as he sees fit.

I don't think its as big a gamble for the Yotes as people say.

If Strome continues to flunk at the NHL he probably gets no value next year. Selling early on struggling prospects is something I think teams need to be more willing to do.

Perlini is a 7th forward kind of player, Strome has talent but can't glue it together, Schmaltz is the most proven and the Yotes have to be trying to take advantage of a historically bad division.

- Lindenis#1

I think it’s quality over quantity type of trade. That said i think Schmaltz is the quality & the others are gambles for Bowman. Chicago is weak on depth & it might be a win win but until Strome does anything its a fail.

Pffft....snot nose kid, Hextal took a team in cap hell back to reality, he built a prospect system which was nonexistent under Homer and the win now at all costs regime.

He made some bad signings but he was a draft and develop guy, patience is not acceptable in Philly.

AKA he dug out of Homley’s mess & fired by the same dummy 😂

Even more staggering is that the era with the most ridiculous salaries is the salary cap era.

Wouldn't be so bad if they had so many injuries.
- manvanfan

Only the Ducks lost more man games.
Some don’t include that in their narrative.
