I never understood the Matthews hate from Aetherial. If Matthews doesn’t score on any given shift he’s “invisible” or “not trying.” Who cares if he finishes with a goal and an assist, and had the most shots in the game? Like (frank) off.

If you think that is in any way factual, then I imagine there are a whole bunch of things in life you don't understand.

Leak a photo of Dubas having a coffee with Dorion.

That should motivate Nylander to sign.

While the ask might be $8+, not a chance Leafs will give in on that number at this juncture. There's been substantial efforts made to unload deals considered overpays and bad deals over the past few seasons. Zaitsev could be considered one, but the jury is out on that one. With Pridham and Gilham on board, I'm sure the max for a long term deal with Nylander is about $7 and they will fight tooth and nail to make it less than that.

I still think nobody knows what is going on in these talks. We do know his agent has pulled this before. Seems like this is the agent's standard strategy.

The thing is, Dubas knows he can't give in and lose this one with Marner and Matthews coming up and everyone knows where the deal should be.

The Draisaitl deal was stupid. I doubt that gets repeated.

I love the fans all upset that Nylander will get all butthurt if he has to sign a bridge deal, forgetting about all the other players in the league that had to sign bridge deals and then re-upped with the same team.

This is much ado about nothing.

Why would the Leafs offer Nylander when it took so little to get Karlsson?
And Karlsson is just too expensive. They can't afford to keep him after this season.

Berger works in funeral home. He is not in the media anymore.

The Sens were never going to trade Karlsson to the leafs. It's a fact.

It was dark times tool.

Actually, there were two playoffs I was cheering for them, and one of them was the glorious one where Pominville blew by Crusty the Clown to score the game winning (series winning?) goal.

... tell me you weren't feeling a little blue and gold tingle when that happened

Formenton continues his outstanding play and is moving towards being able to lock down a starting position on opening night, probably on the first line.

“He makes a few guys look like cones out there,” Ottawa Senators coach Guy Boucher said of Formenton, who scored during Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage. “It’s not the guys’ fault. It’s just that he’s so impressive. If you give this guy a bit of room and you didn’t gap up well, goodbye. A few of our older guys are finding that out.”

Formenton is now the best player on the planet not already in the NHL.

Hater. I may not like his bandana wearing style either...but I don't let it cloud my vision regarding his skill and impact on the game. He's at least top 5 on the Leafs.

I am terrified he has a monster season this year, and he is going to have a good case for McDavid money.

They have more than that, the can still use Hortons LTIR salary next year, if it's too tight.
- bobbyisno1

nope, Cap friendly accounts for LTIR on Horton. It's $31M.

So, a Sens player looks like other players look like cones in Sens training camp.

I don't doubt for one second that this is accurate. But the explanation for Formenton making other players in Sens training camp look like cones is NOT that Formenton is a budding young superstar.

He says Formenton on the 1st line like that's a good thing, and not something done out of desperation.

Or in the East, which is a horrible mistake by Dorion. They got burned horribly in the Hoffman trade by ignoring the East.

That misses the overall point completely....the Sens would have never traded Karlsson to Toronto. NEVER!!!
- mikeinbuffalo

That's 100% bullpoop. More expensive, yes, never, no. If the Leafs had actually offered something like Nylander, Gardiner and a 1st, they would have taken it compared to the pile of garbage they got. Universally, everybody agreed the Senators got a garbage package for Karlsson. The same wouldn't have been said if they got Nylander.
