I mean on the one hand he's better than Leon draisaitl. On the other draisaitl is overpaid by millions. |

Almost seems like a blessing in disguise for Toronto, obviously a F was gonna be moved at some point, most likely for help on the back end and Nylander just made that decision for them... They're trying to build something special and there's no room for greed and selfishness... Leafs have plenty of guys who can create offense and score goals, his absence will barely be noticed... In the end, he'll probably end up playing in a lifeless hockey market on a mediocre team but for a little more money, his loss. |

I doubt he expects to get paid 8 million, even if It is the ask. |

Yeah that money is NOT gonna happen there. His agent is clearly going to go for the homerun contract here and if he won't budge and come down more into the Pasternak range, which is about right, then don't doubt Dubas is going to start looking around to see what he can find for options and flip the guy for a solid defenceman. There's a few teams that could be a real good fit for a trade that way.
THIS is assuming that what's coming out is actually what is happening and accurate. |

Good perspective from the Toronto Star:
It's believed Nylander is asking as much as $8 million a year with the Leafs countering at $6.5 million. At $8 million a year, Nylander would be among the 25 highest-paid players in the league |
|
|
|
this is negotiations. If Nylander thought he really was worth 8.5 million per year then his agent would start the asking at 9.5 million. The issue is Dubas is to low and not budging. 7 to 7.5 is probably the realistic number for a long term deal. |

Draisaitl is definitely the better player, but yes, he's overpaid for sure! |

Much ado about nothing - its $6 - $6.75 Million for 7-8 years or a bridge deal of 1-2 years at $5 million. No leaverage for the player. He's controllable to age 27.
Lots of irrelavent drivel here

I've watched 10 minutes of the Leafs scrimmage and I already want Hyman off the Tavares and Marner line. |

I think your number is high. Comparables are Ehlers at $6 million and Pastrnak at $6.67 million. And Pastrnak has better numbers - and playoff performances to date.

I don't believe he's asked for 8. Dreger's reports have been brutal regrading the Leafs the past couple of years. |

It's training camp - that line will be deadly. Marner looked great with the Bozek as his center for (frank) sakes.

Pastrnak and Nylander career ppg we’re pretty much identical before signing their first contracts, and the caps gone up. Anything under 7 will be good really. I think all this talk of him wanting 8 plus is just part of the negatiations nothing more. Read an article yesterday that showed that players that hold out into training camp usually get underpaid as well. Dubas will want to get this as low as possible because it can sorta be used as a stepping stone for Marner. |

exactly.
on Nash, get on the Phone now... PTO get to camp.
if you can skate with any of the forward groups.. would prefer a Nash type player over Ennis ... |

Not sure I would want Nash. He hasn't exactly been anywhere near how he used to be. Ennis is looking at a bottom 4 role, and while yeah Nash has more skill and would likely be more in line with an upper line player, he hasn't exactly been all that good in that role the past few years. He's been bouncing around for a reason. Rather spend the money on someone who comes in and can contribute and possibly is a younger guy that will fit in better with the core. We have the aging vet roles covered well enough. |
