I think the price for Patches was not excessive, I think the problem is that Vegas way overpaid for Tatar last year. A roster player, 2nd pick, and good prospect is a pretty fair price for a guy like Max, especially since I'm guessing he resigns with Vegas.
Paying 3 good picks for Thomas Tatar was an ugly price. Thankfully for Vegas, a lot of teams pretty much gave picks and future assets to Vegas for the expansion draft trades. |

what Vegas paid for Tatar really is meaningless for this trade |

When I saw the title "Coverage for September" I thought there might be some info regarding any televised broadcasts of the preseason games. Does anyone know about this yet? My guess is that the game next Tuesday in Buffalo won't be. What about the others? |

Are guys with 4 consecutive 20 goal seasons really just considered roster players nowadays? |

The Sabres fan base is very interested in seeing their #1 pick play, it may be televised. There were highlights from the Sabres rookie tourney games on Twitter. I'm not sure if they were from a feed though. |

Bergevin definitely got a good haul for Pac. I stated this in another thread that while Vegas made a bad decision for Tatar, overpaying for Pac is better than overpaying for Tatar.
The big move here is how long McPhee will wait to attempt to extend Pacioretty. One has to think that last year was an aberration and he should get the benefit of the doubt, but I think if McPhee can wait it out until the new year without damaging his chances of retaining him; that would be wise. |

Looking down through the schedule in the link its shows that FS-D (Fox Sports - Detroit, I assume) is the network airing the game against the Wings on the 19th. You might be able to catch that online somewhere. Outside chance its on tv, especially in Canada.
Thats the only Pens pre season game I noticed with a network showing it. |

...well... guys who score 20+ goals a year are on the roster, so yes, i'd say he is a roster player.
i get what youre saying, i didnt mean a guy who is just a throw in. i meant a guy who is on the NHL roster who can come in and play on the team this year. wasn't meant to criticize Tatar. |

Dahlin is not playing today but the game is televised if anyone is interested. The Pens are getting their a$$e$ kicked right now but the Sabres have at least 4 kids who are going to be top 6 players and the Sabres goalie is playing extremely well. If you want to watch go to www.onhockey.tv |

I love how people on Twitter are surprised that the #31 ranked prospect pool is struggling against much better groups of prospects. |

I’m not surprised at all that they have been getting destroyed. All these teams have been keeping their first round picks. None of the 3 teams have won anything ormcome close except maybe the Bruins 5 years ago. The Bruins had 3 picks in a row in the first round a couple of years ago. I’m definitely not surprised that they are losing today. Middlestat, Asplund, Nylander, and Olofson could all be top 6 players in the next few years. Well Asplund will be a very good 3C behind Eichel and Middlestat. The Penguins should invite Roberts and Robertson to their main camp. Free assets are free assets and both of them look like good players. Bellerive looks a little slow but that is to be expected after what happened to him. He’s lucky to be playing at all. Addison looks the best. He can skate like the wind and has good handles. I’m hoping the big guy Angelo will drop the gloves any time here. |

The results don't matter, but how the players look does matter. Although it's only a small sample size, you want to see if some of the young guys have poise or handle the puck like a hand grenade. How do players stack up against other pro-drafted peers? But yeah, who wins/losses mean nothing. |

At this point, yes, I'd say Scott Hartnell would be considered a "roster player."
Also, I was under the impression that Tomas Tatar was a player on a roster. |

And more proof that mr Wilson’s coverage of the pens has nothing to do with passion for the team but the desire to use the platform to promote his passion for advanced stats. Sorry the boring preseason doesn’t have enough data for graphs n’at. |

Its indeed a little straight-forward here... our roster, consisting of 23 players, will consist of a few players to get constant praise, a lot NHL'er who do their job, and of course those who get the replacement-level trash-talk the whole season long (current leading candidates: JJ, Cullen and Reaves - no, wait )... no prospects, nearly no AHL, not much stories, zero interviews... especially in summer Mr. Tanner's blogs read really exciting, and hell, Flyers Meltzer, VGK's Sheng Peng and a few others are simply fanblogger by heart. Still, the game-coverage with Mr. Wilson was always pretty good.

After 4-2 vs. Bruins and 6-2 vs Devils... 20-6=-14 in three games. |

So have we reached the end to our goalie depth with those types of results?
(frank) it, they should have just dressed Sid! |
