As much as we criticize Bergevin in here, he has acquired quite a few extra picks for the draft over the past few seasons, mostly, the coveted 2nd round picks. - Reubenkincade
He has, but the way he’s done it is questionable. Imagine if he traded Subban for youth instead of old man Weber with 74 years still left on his contract. That Price contract looks bad. Sergachev for Drouin looks questionable. We’ll see how passing on Zadina works out. Jury is out on Galchenyuk for Domi
I think he did well here though. |

Compared to the Kesler haul I thought the Habs did ok. Don’t know what people are female doging about. - bloatedmosquito
Yeah, I’m not sure what people were expecting. If the Knights weren’t giving up Glass in a Karlsson deal then no way in hell were they doing for Patches. |

Yes, a lot of his moves have been questionable.
Subban trade, sounds more like a locker room issue. I don't think many players got along with him, not Gallagher anyways and Weber is still a good defenseman, when he plays.
Galchenyuk needed a fresh start and Domo as well.
Pacioretty, has the talent, but has never seemed to put it all together, so a pretty good return.
Yeah, those long contracts though, they are not good. |

I feel like you can make any GM’s history sound reasonable like this.
I’m not saying they should’ve kept Subban, but acquiring Weber and then deciding to rebuild just a year or 2 later is stupid.
Pacioretty scored 30+ goals multiple times, he’s definitely “put it together” for a nice career despite playing with mediocre centers. He’s exceeded expectations if anything, I don’t remember him being super hyped when he came into the league or even after his first season or 2. |

I feel like for once the habs actually made out pretty well on this trade. The bonus outweighs the difference between patches and tatar.
Plus they got a top prospect at a position of need |

The Habs need to stop looking for a captain to replace the likes of Gainey and Carbonneau.

Wasn't Patches the one that Chara tried to break his neck against the stanchion? |

If he was handcuffed, and max allegedly asked for a trade and was a pending ufa after this season, that is quite a decent haul. Tatar averages 20 goals a season over the last 5, is cheaper, and 2 years younger. Suzuki is a good prospect and a center prospect at that, and picks are always valuable. If kesler had given us a similar return, i think it would have been a great trade. I think max is a really good winger too so i think it was a good deal on both sides and a far superior deal for MB than his subban/galchenyuk/sergachev trades |

The nixed deal with LA was that he reportedly turned down 6 x 6. State tax being one of the major reasons he nixed the deal. Tax is about (roughly im seeing) half of what he would be paying in montreal. |
